Sounds insane. Now I want to know if this will pop a power wheelie.

Aditya,
Why not, this should be a good street brawler and an able competitor to FZ. Now we need to see if this would replace Enfield Bullet as the ideal getaway bike to tour the Leh-Ladakh. Any idea on further specs?

a2k24, True that! The fairing on the r15 is a major attraction as far as a lot of youngsters are concerned and with the v2, which kinda has a mini r6 look and the much in demand phat tyres, the aesthetics are even more appealing.
The CBR has the Honda tag to go along with the looks and quarter litre bike tag, so it will hold its niche too.
Inspite of all this the lil Katoom is sure to find takers among bikers who want to enjoy the peppiness that the KTMs impressive power to weight ratio is sure to deliver.

yea. the average guy out to buy a bike wants to fulfill his "superbike" dream which is hampered by his small pocket. these bikes with full fairing is what comes close to that dream.
the KTMs are very category specific. only the well aware enthusiast will go for it i guess. but then again, a simple test drive of this might excite the buyer. lighter than a R15 with 30% more power, that is pretty significant.
can't wait to try it out myself.

That's a great price Bajaj have introduced the Duke at. Being a CBR 250 owner, I still will be heading for a test ride and check if it's worth all the hype created around and believe me, given the specs I really have high expectations from the naked devil.

Honestly, I might even be trading my CBR 250 for the Duke only if I can feel the power difference (given the power to weight ratio).

Also, why only the CBRs (250) & R15s, this bike will also lure the prospective P220 and Karizma customers who have more budget but find the R15 smaller in size.

Let's wait & watch!!!

PS:- Hoping they ensure A.S.S. is not a going to be a concern as in the case of Honda.

Re: KTM Duke 200 launched @ an introductory price of Rs. 1,17,500/- (Ex-Showroom Delh

That is definitely some excellent pricing by Bajaj and thumbs up to them , they have been consistently pricing their new products sensibly since 650R launch.

184 ps/tonne sounds great, infact we had a youtube video showing some one testing it in India and with the short gear ratios, this would accelerate like anything, more so its extremely light at less than 140 kgs so would be a good city bike - touring i am not sure of with the short gear ratios and a 138 km/h speed, just hope it doesnt sounds too strained above 105-110.

One thing am wary of would be the spares pricing, i am in search of a bike to replace my 220 and give company to my gt650r and one thing am searching for is reasonable spare part prices. Be it Ninja or GT, with a single indicator costing upwards of 1600 and two side mirrors costing 7500 the upkeep is expensive. Infact for every service you need to shell out 3000-4000 minimum on a oil and basic consumables change. Thats the reason you cant take such bikes to work or malls every day until a safe parking spot is available.

The advantage with CBR250R would be a more relaxed engine at 120-125 cruising on highways + the extremely low cost of spare parts and servicing, only hope would be that the KTM parts are not as expensive as the Ninja 250r and be only at a slight premium over R15 and CBR parts.

We are aware that KTM is a world leader in the off road bike category. Can it be safely said that the Duke 200 is an offroad-onroad hybrid then? If it is, Hero Impulse better watch out.
This one offers the customer a great power to weight ratio. Guess Bajaj has hit the sweet spot. I believe that there will be dedicated KTM showrooms selling the duke and other KTM branded merchandise such as riding gear etc. as Bajaj intends to get the higher powered Ktms in India also. Way to go Bajaj.

Super Pricing, I do feel that this opens a segment by itself and will pull in customers from a segment below and above in pricing (80K-1.6L).

But the absence of Skirtings will limit appeal as there are many who want the full fairings look rather than a naked one. Also this is essentially a young bike so it is easy to visualize a person in Jeans and T-Shirt on it vs someone in a pant and shirt attire - so not for being driven to the office - just my take.

Ohhhhhh Myyyyyyy Gooooooood .... This is really S**y bike ... I am dying to have a look in person. Price is great too. Now CBR & Ninja feels overpriced. This is really cool bike at this price. Anyone has any idea what FE it gives? 25-30 is fine for this kinda bike.

I am tempting to change my Pulsar 180 to this

First drive report from OD: 2012 KTM Duke 200 first ride - Overdrive Magazine -

An excerpt: The Duke claims 60kmph in just over 3seconds, 100kmph in just over 9 and a top speed of 135kmph
Pocket Rocket, I'd say!

What is the correct weight of Duke 200? Is it 125KG or 136KG?

I think 136KG is with full tank of fuel. Am i right?

If the weight is 125KG then power to weight ratio is 200BHP/Ton.

That is a great price. I think it will be great for street and offroading. I will take a test ride when it is available. This will be a great upgrade from my current steed for city - Fiero.

Re: KTM Duke 200 launched @ an introductory price of Rs. 1,17,500/- (Ex-Showroom Delh

A great VFM bike, introduced just before the Pulsar range is overhauled. (Pulsar new gen expected in Feb 1st/2nd week)
As for the missing fairing on the bike, expect P220 or P250 (if it is launched) to have full fairing to compete head on with R15. This way Bajaj will cover the premium bike portfolio fully.
Since the showrooms have been renamed as KTM showrooms, does it mean that the Bajaj will lose focus on Kawasaki's? This would be deal breaker for Ninja buyers!
