How does one get to the ullundurpet road from R.A.Puram/T.Nagar in chennai ?

And recommendations for hotel to stay at Pollachi will help too.
So far my searches in the threads have yielded Nivethas Inn, Sakthi and Ramanuja.
Any others to consider ? Looking to stay just 1 day.

You have to take the Anna Salai/Mount Road towards Tambaram. From there its a no-brainer. Just keep following the road all the way, just don't take the bridge at Kathipara.

Which part of RA Puram? Take St. Mary's Road till T Junction at TTK Road and take left at the junction, proceed to Adyar Gate hotel signal and take right there to join Chamiers Road. Proceed on Chamiers Road till Mount Road junction. A left turn at the junction will lead you to Anna Salai/Mount Road. This is one straight road with twists and turns that you may have to follow till Ulundurpet.

Planning to travel from Chennai to Madurai with a stop over at Salem in a couple of days. Which is the best and shortest route with good roads? Whats the km break up in different stretch of the journey? How many extra km will I be doing compared to a direct route to Madurai. How much time will it take on average highway speeds? Thanks mates.

As per Google, its about 120km more. 470 for direct route and about 590 via Salem. No issues about roads. Its 4-lane either way.

I travel often upto Salem. I keep a steady speed of 90 Kmph and with at least one stop for breakfast or lunch it takes me just about 6 hours from Thiruvanmiyur to Salem Junction. I am sure you can achieve the same average speed upto Madurai too.

And about 2hours from Salem to Madurai. This is just to reach the turnoff into Madurai, you have to estimate the time to get into the city and reach your destination. Samayanallur to Fathima College will easily take about 20 mins.

In addition you might also have to account for jams in the signals of the Salem bye-pass at times.

It is just a few km after the toll (Sengurichi) Refer the rough sketch, 4 lane splits into 6/8 lanes (2 lanes towards Trichy will be on the extreme left, the next 2 lanes is yours (stick to the median) and take right.

Kochadai exit is a hit or a miss as it might get congested at Virattipathu with the narrow lane. I have found Samayanallur exit to work out if I were to go to South/East Madurai since you can quite easily latch onto Sellur road.

Would like to have input about possible eatery for breakfast (around 7 AM) ie., after villupuram but before ulundurpet Right turn.

There are few options like Aryaas, A2B, Woodlands etc before Ulundurpet but they are all on the right side of the road when you go from Chennai.
