Hyderabad: July-August 2009 Meets

Continuing with the tradition of closing older threads and opening new ones for subsequent month. Let's discuss all our July'09 meet discussions here.

Look forward to more participation for meets during this month. Ideas/thoughts/suggestions are more than welcome.

Btw, we have a mega-goa meet coming up in July which is being discussed in a different thread. Anyone interested to join for that trip is welcome !!!

Cheers,
Avi

July has arrived.Im proposing few meets this month (some of which were in my wish list last month too) :
1. A Breakfast Meet ( we have never done this, though we discussed Kheema Parathas at paradise)
2. Aero Modelling and RC Car Meet
3. A Sporting Meet (Preferably Golf..ending up at the 19th Hole)
4. Hyderabad Internation Auto Expo meet (17th-19th July)
5. A Formula 1 watching Sunday meet.
6. Fortune Katriya Meet or a similar venue (if we are not allowed into FK)

ofc..Goa drive is planned already.

Ram, that sounds like an exciting list. I am all game for 3, 5, 6

6: How about a dinner meet on July 10th at Fortune Katriya or a similar place?

3. I am all in for Golf, the last time i played, i got completely exhausted at the 15th hole after almost 5 hours. Who has memberships? And, where?

5. I am more game for a Motogp meet instead of an F1 race. They are several times more exciting. And, if Arun's ok, we can do it on his 50" Plasma

Himanshusaab, please check your mail.

Dinner on Friday night - 10th July sounds good to me. Will Katriya have us back?

Never played golf and have been planning to take it up but, the waking up at 5.00 or earlier puts me off. So I might join you guys for the last 2 holes, i.e. 18th and 19th .

About the F1/MotoGP, knowing us guys - the TV will be royally ignored as we each talk @ 200MpH.

Cheers,

For all you folks..19th hole is not on the Golf course.Traditionally in English Golf game..ending up at 19th hole, stands for finishing 18th hole and moving on to a pub to drink like a hole...hence the pub is the 19th hole...this is followed in UK and Australia where i learnt my Golfing.

You had to let the cat out of the bag! I said 18th and 19th as playing some golf is required for admittance to the 19th!

Golfffff???? The nearest I have come to a similar sport (and used to excel in it) is Gilli Dhanda. Why Gilli Dhanda and not cricket? It's cos as far as I know Golf also requires the target to be hit, to be on the ground. Somebody correct me if I have got it wrong

Last couple of times i played golf was with some firang colleagues/customers ( Brits and Italians) and i was hitting the ball with a typical cricket swing. It took me a long time to get the correct action. And, eventually i was hitting harder and farther than those firangs

One thing is for sure, this sport makes your feel your part of "Royalty"

Somebody Royally Challenge me and then maybe, just maybe, I may be able to get the Golf Stick, Bat errr.. whatever to strike the ball. Game anyone?
