My Santro's Exide lasted 4-5 years. It had power windows, a simple ICE setup (4 speakers+HU). Then I changed it to Tata Green. Working fine. But now, the car is sold!

The OE battery on my OHC lasted 2 years. Replaced with an Amaron and it's been going strong for 5 years now. Amaron has the best warranty as well.

Gears,

Mt first Santro's battery lasted 4 years & was still working when I sold the car. The car just had an Alpine HU & two pair of speakers apart from the usual central locking, power windows etc.

Second Santro's battery also lasted 3.5 years & again when I sold the car it was working fine. Both these batteries were Exide.

My OHC's standard Exide was replaced early on due to electrical requirements & the larger Panasonic lasted about 2-odd years after which it gave up. Now have been on another Exide for the last 1.5 years & it seems to be doing fine.

Default Exide ??

By any chance were these OE batteries Exide ? My personal observation is that it seems as though Exide batteries are built to last .. as long as the warranty is valid. Any day after that is a bonus .. and I have been a loyal Exide user for very very long. No more ..

The OEM Exide on my 2003 March Indica lasted for 39 months and 60000 km. I'm sure it would have lasted longer if I had fixed the faulty regulator issue that surfaced then earlier. The extra load on the battery has been remote locking and a music system.

They were both Exide. And same here, Exide would be my last choice.

I'm beginning to think I should change the question to: How long did your EXIDE OE battery last.

My EXIDE battery lasted me 13 months...It came with a 12 month warranty :Frustrai!!!
Still got no other options for the car...New one has 18 month warranty

On my DD no idea, battery lasted over 2 1/2 years, but just replaced it at my 50K service...No reason just wanted a new battery...Not sure about my other cars though

The present exide sold in the Indian market is not the original Exide as the original company TUDOR limited has transferred its licence to Prestolite battery. Its still under litigation though.

My experience with OEM Batteries:

1. Mercedes : 24 months before a replacement was required.

2. OHC Vtec : A little less than 4 years. Switched to Amaron.

3. Jeep : OEM Battery lasted 40 months.

Thats a fact, and indeed the worst kept secret of the auto industry. Battery makers design OEM batteries to last only 1 - 2 years, or the duration of the battery warranty. Amongst the brands, Exide is the worst while Amaron is amongst the best.

Is Amaron expensive as compared to Exide (for similar batteries) ?
