Jaguar launches locally assembled XJ diesel at Rs. 92.1 lakh

British luxury carmaker, Jaguar has launched the locally assembled XJ sedan in India at prices starting from Rs. 92.1 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai, pre octroi). The car is available with a 3.0 litre diesel engine and in two variants - Premium Luxury and Portfolio.

The XJ, Jaguar's largest sedan, is now manufactured at the company's plant at Pune alongside the XF sedan and Land Rover Freelander 2 SUV. The local assembly of the car has helped Jaguar price it considerably lower than the CBU version.

Under the hood of the XJ is a 2993 cc, V6 diesel engine that develops 271 bhp @ 4000 rpm and 600 Nm of torque @ 2000 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

For 2014, Jaguar has given the XJ additional equipment like upgraded rear seats with three massage functions, electric side window blinds, LED reading lights, a pair of 10.2-inch screens for rear seat entertainment and a new rear business table. Jaguar claims that it has increased headroom in the rear of the car as well.

The Jaguar XJ is positioned against the Audi A8, BMW 7-Series and the segment-leading Mercedes-Benz S Class.
