Re: My new Project. A teeny tiny Nissan truck! The 4W73

Jyobeb,congrats on the buy!

I cant stop drooling over this 'thing' and what its capable of!

I remember a pic of Arka driving his monster with chopped off top and windshield (?) and it was monstrously awesome!

As Fazal Ali sir mentioned, please maintain the retro looks, you will have one helluva monster which looks and performs as well. Will be eagerly looking forward towards the updates on this thread.

Cheers!

Dhanush

Hi,
Always had a soft spot for this.
Must you change the engine?

Jyobeb,

Congrats on your buy.

Is it in running condition ?

How are you going to register it, private / commercial vehicle. Will you need a different license to drive it ?

Please post more pictures of the inside.

As per two posts on The Nissan 4W73 thread by ex670c:

So i'm guessing in TN this vehicle remains an LMV and can be driven with a regular LMV licence? How kicka$$ is that!!!

Cheers,
Rahul

Re: My new Project. A teeny tiny Nissan truck! The 4W73

One problem that comes to mind is "parking".
@jyobeb, do you have parking for this at your home in Madurai ? In Chennai, the flat association would not allow this inside my flat. But then one could leave it on the street without worrying about other vehicles hitting/scraping it - infact other vehicles would keep a safe distance from the 1Ton.

I just imagined driving this to work in Chennai - wow, no fear of pesky bikers hitting the wing mirrors, a honk and autos/share-autos flee, all the cabbies and Sumos/Scorpios stay a respectable distance away. Even the cheeky MTC Volvos/ordinary buses would stay away. Aah, would be an invincible feeling.

Its in running condition though I am presently overhauling the carb.
Its registered as a private vehicle, LMV hence no problem. Regular license is enough.

Re: My new Project. A teeny tiny Nissan truck! The 4W73

As of now, the engine I have zeroed down to, is the 6 cylinder engine from the Tata 1210 series, the 4.7l Mercedes OM312 based engine.
One reason for this engine is the size, which is not much more than the Nissan petrol. It is also a very smooth engine. I plan to turbocharge it for additional power.
If anyone has more detailed specs of this engine, I would love to have it. Anyone with any thoughts against this idea please let me know. (Or forever hold your peace)
