There is a professional guy who does the bending works for all these modifiers, bends for Roll cage, snorkel, foot board, scissor top frame, silencers etc are done by this guy.

So you give him a dimensioned drawing, or just tell him what you want in general terms?

Checking whether the LH and RH doors are mirror images of each other will be the acid test.

Front torsion raised - Apart from what I perceive as increased clearance in the front, did this mod cause any change in the on-road behavior of the vehicle?

B-pillar and wind screen frame chopped 2 inches to get get them down. - Is this for cosmetic purpose or was something else achieved through this? Did it warrant changes to the front windshield height change

Sports seats - Do they provide better lumbar & under thigh support than the stock ones? How much did these cost and which brand are these?

JEEP CJ5 fender flares - How different are these from the stock fender flares? Do they cover the tyres fully given it is an upsize?

Wrangler side mirrors / JEEP universal tail lights / KC replacement clear lens head lamps - Are these readily available in Hyd or were they imported?

Bilstein shocks - I have read in other threads that Bilstein improves the on-road behavior of the vehicle by a big margin, but I am not sure what happens to the off-road behavior. Are there bilstein's that are very good for off-road, but can be used for normal city run as well?

Torsion bar raised, no , there is not much difference onroad but the suspension is slightly stiffer.

B pillar and wind screen chopped to give it a butch look.
Wind shield is a custom one.

Sports seats cost around 18k. These are imitation seats. They provide lot of lumbar,side ,under thigh support. The seat basically holds you in place when the vehicles is at odd angles during offroad.
Original seats are pathetic in the Thar.

The original Thar fender flares are fiber and they sit at the bottom of the fender and tend to break while offroad.

CJ5 flares sit high and are polyurethane and dont break.
They dont cover fully , for this purpose we imported wrangler flares which cover the tyres fully , but they dont suit the look of the thar hence they were removed.

Lights,morrors,powerplant ,rear door are all imported.

We wanted better ride on road , offroad doesnt matter anyways. The rear suspension is very very bumpy on the thar. They should be good in the city too.

Power plant is a unit by warn which has a winch and an air compressor . It costs 1.4L.

7.00 16 NDMS... now that is some serious rubber and I think i should get them as soon as I wear the 5.0 16 i have on my CJ3B. I have too much wheel spin and thinner tires seem to make it more difficult. Also I am a novice at off roading and that seems to be more than half the problem.

IF you are spinning tyres with an inter under the hood , you still need to get used to the throttle . 6.00x16 ndms is more than enough for the terrain round hyderabad , infact you will do much better than fat tyres.

Use your existing tyres for atleast 2 years and then you will be in a good place to think of an upgrade .

I remember spiders Jeep . Dont ever do running repairs , rebuild it from scratch for reliability. Go to Bharath motors and get the gearbox checked.

Frankie,

I am not sure, from what you write here, whether the jeep will be 4x4 or not. I am asking this because a lot of those Jeeps that get the Toyota engines loose their 4x4 because they get the regular gearbox and not the 4x4 owing to the owner's lack of interest in off-roading.

Personally to me if there is no 4x4 in the Jeep, then you are taking the Jeep out of it. But that is just me. However, as it being restored at Bharat Reddy's place, I have faith that it might not be stripped of its 4x4 hopefully. It just kills me when there is no more 4x4.

I have made a couple of trips to Bharat Reddy's garage but could not meet him as he was out on all the occasions. Lets see when it is that I am destined to meet him. :-)
