For all those looking for MM550 Army Jeeps

Went to Mayapuri couple of days ago, hunting for mm550 xdp and see what I found. Loads of them were lying around but only few were in good nick. The ones in the picture were the only good ones in whole of the mayapuri I could have gone for. There were priced at Rs 85000 and Rs 70000. They were straight from the auction so untouched as yet. But you can get them in half the price if you go to Phatankot, which is going to be my next stop.

Anyway I thought to post the picture so that you know where you can get the Army mm550 and for how much.

Having a problem uploading the picture as I am getting server errors, will get it up ASAP..

Hey mate
I"m off there Monday to check them out. 70 grand sounds expensive. Did the guy say anything of reducing the price? Do you have an address/direction guide to this shop?
Cheers!

Thanks for the pictures. I take it these were still army standard and had 4x4 etc all in place.

Do you need to have any documents prepared to drive these on the road ?
How do you get a reg number for them ?

Yes they were totally stock and even drivable, one of them.

As for the papers, I am not sure. I think you have to register at your RTO and you will get the new no for the jeep. The process is kind of same like what you do for a new vehicle to get it registered.I could be wrong though!.

I know 70k is tad to much but they got to make profit, it's their business. I even saw two more mm550 army jeeps, which were just painted and nothing else done to them. Asking price was 1,85,000. I just kind of giggled and walked away. They are big cons so be careful out there. The reason I didn't
bargained was due to the fact that I went there just to see what was around and what price. I know I can get on for less so I left it.

Once you enter Mayapuri from east heading towards west. You will start seeing jeeps on your left and keep going until you see some crane workshop to your left. Just 100 yards before that, you turn left and at the end of that road you will find the shop. Or you could ask where the Palli workshop is. There are two main suppliers of 2nd hand engines there. Tau and Tauji. Its very close to them. Just ask around and you will find it.

So I guess it pays to wear a few old rags and worn out hawai chappels held together with sellotape.

If you have a fancy car park it in a side street before heading to the dealer.

I have been there, Pathankot , maybe 4 times and have asked around and have yet to find any Army jeeps for sale except some real junkers. Do you have a contact point, a location you go to?

Dabwali, Moga, may be a better source.
Has Moga got a Dabwali type thriving market in these Jeeps or is it 1 or 2 sellers ?
