Re: Mahindra Classic 4x4. 2.5 Liter Diesel. Back on the road!

Earlier this evening. Cool sea breeze in my hair, open top, Guns 'N Roses playing November Rain for me and I can see the heavy rain rushing toward us (was drenched within a minute of taking this picture).

Can automotive romance get any better?

You are lucky not being in the NCR! 10 years and ta-ta-bye-bye given the new "anti pollution" rulings of a couple of years ago!

Re: Mahindra Classic 4x4. 2.5 Liter Diesel. Back on the road!

I was just watching this video on youtube by mahindra regarding a ride in pune, and for a moment i thought it you GTO with your classic! But then i recognised the different design of alloys and was a bit disappointed

See because of this reason we advice you to not sell your classic, you sir and classic go hand in hand

Re: Mahindra Classic 4x4. 2.5 Liter Diesel. Back on the road!

Major renovation work going on in the compound. All cars are being moved from place to place as the work progresses through different areas. But not the Jeep .

Try this with the BMW or Superb. Like an old pair of denims. Requires minimal attention, yet familiar and up to the task 24x7:

Re: Mahindra Classic 4x4. 2.5 Liter Diesel. Back on the road!

10 years up on the old starter and it's seen a lot of overhauls + abuse (water ingress). So changed it.

Went out for an easy dinner on Friday night. Car options included a brand new Q5, my 6-cylinder beast and a 2.0 turbo petrol limousine. Chose the Jeep. If you have to ask why, you'll never understand

Excuse the mess, my driveways are being renovated:

I totally understand. Asked my 5 year old what he wanted to do today on children's day and he said Jeep drive! Opened here up, windshield down and took him and his friends around town in the classic!

My kid brother's wedding ceremonies & celebrations underway, so the cars got some floral love too. Check out pictures of the 530d & Superb as well.

Re: Mahindra Classic 4x4. 2.5 Liter Diesel. Back on the road!

Even though I’m a very recent member of this forum, I’ve been following and reading Team-BHP ardently for more than last 10years and love reading the beautifully written reviews of the cars by the mods and @GTO especially I still love to read some of the fantastic reviews penned down by you like that of the 1st gen Hyundai i20, 4th gen Honda City and Toyota Innova Crysta are among my favourite, also I loved your thread of logic of buying an expensive car for a long time comes out to be more sensible and many more such threads. Thank you very much for those invaluable insights and I hope I can contribute positively to this forum. Stay safe and happy motoring

Re: Mahindra Classic 4x4. 2.5 Liter Diesel. Back on the road!

Been using the Jeep quite a lot lately. It's still cooler than usual in Bombay for Feb-end, so a whole lot of fun. I love driving her around Bombay early in the morning or evening onward.

No news on ownership threads usually means good news. She's driving real nice. Random pics from this morning's temple + charity run, when I was just admiring her.

By the way, earlier this month, we celebrated the Jeep's 25th birthday . My 3 other cars combined haven't completed 25 years in the family!

Re: Mahindra Classic 4x4. 2.5 Liter Diesel. Back on the road!

Many years ago in the 1990's when I was in college I remember seeing a Jeep similar to yours near Mithibhai/NM college. I distinctly remember it beause of the "RUSH" sticker on the front windshield. I reckon it must have been you that time . Little did I know then that I would be seeing that Jeep again on Team BHP.

Happy 25 to the young lad

I've been asking you about your plans for the new Thar, but let me tell you - neither the new Thar (even a CT) nor the Wrangler can replace the Classic.

There is something sexy about a naked WW2 derived Jeep that the modern sophisticated Thars or Wranglers cannot pull off

Haha, small world! Yep, that's me. Always used to be parked outside "Dhiraj". Here's a picture from the Mithibai days, in a Mithibai bylane:

Re: Mahindra Classic 4x4. 2.5 Liter Diesel. Back on the road!

Just to add further, saw your Jeep every single day out side "Rustoms" at Churchgate 2010-11 when I used to be the Exec Chef at Marine Plaza. Was new to Team-bhp and always saw this beauty online and then a while later as I walked to the station

Re: Mahindra Classic 4x4. 2.5 Liter Diesel. Back on the road!

GTO, given a chance for an engine swap, what engine would you like your Jeep to have & why you’d think the option of your choice would suit your Jeep? Not an interview, but would like to hear it from an old Jeep owner!

1) Mahindra’s current Diesel / Petrol line up?
2) Tata’s Varicor 400?
3) Fiat 2.0 MJD?

The reason why I’m asking is that I am curious like earlier days where an Ambassador used to get Isuzu’s sweet 1.8 diesel (unless I’m mistaken). Considering your Jeep from the same era of Ambassador’s

Sure does show how emotionally you’re connected with your Jeep!

Ha, ha, ha... should not have mentioned Isuzu. That will bring back nightmare of days when this Jeep did have Isuzu 1.8 petrol engine.
