Jeep spotted in South Delhi

Hi,

This jeep was spotted in south Delhi.

Quite weird I'd say but comes with a 4WD and air conditioning. Hahahaha

Cheers !!!!!

Nice find, probably a CL500 series type model. The jeep does look bit weird, but I think it surely belongs to a jeep enthusiast and doesn't look like dabwali/typical mayapuri way. The hard cover design gives a retro-vintage feel. Overall, a nice arrangement to use the jeep in all-weather condition.

looks like more of a practical use vehicle rather than a show off vehicle!

4 wheels and a closed body shell....and it works!

And I am guessing that the owner is so pissed at people fiddling with the 4WD lever that he has tied it down to prevent misuse???!!!. Or could it just be a slipping transfer case???

Interesting snaps. What are the chances of locating a VW beetle old edition-1978 or earlier, in mayapuri.

There are no fixed prices for these jeeps. But you can expect anywhere between 70k to 90-100k. This is without registration

No idea. But I have never seen any VW Beetel in Mayapuri, but again I concentrated only on the jeep markets.

Atul you can try few workshops located under the Defence Colony flyover in delhi, opposite side of the Nirual's restaurent across the railway line for old VW beetles.

thanks a lot for the information. actually i've already done that yesterday. Right under the bridge, a beetle with huge alloy wheels, roof cut open for a glass screen and a badly rusted body. the price tag of 1.5 lacs seemed astronomically high. even 1.0 with regular tyres but negligible entrails seems far fetched. may be what i need is some guidance from a couple of experienced bhpians. anyone willing to help me out with that? another option is a willy's 1956 model. still got to see the vehicle before i pass my comments or make up my mind.

regard's,
atul

dont buy beetle unless you are willing to drive them 100 kms a month only. spares are hard to come by as the last production came to end in mexico and brazil for these beetles.

sure you can go for willys.....thats a better option than the VW beetles!

Cj3b

Thanks for the advice regarding beetles. Meanwhile i went and met harjeev who was kind enough to go with me to mayapuri to have a look at a couple of those cj3b's. Infact he's been extra helpful in assisting me to locate one and also would patch me up with a cousin of his who's into refurbishment of vehicles. But at the end of the day i would only say that the CJ3B's are hard to come by, infact its impossible to actually now locate an original one without some gruesome modification or the other.
Regards,
atul

elusive CJ3B

I'm still looking for that elusive cj3b. Is anyone aware whether Bhopal can offer some choices. Besides mayapuri, what other options are open for procuring an old rundown CJ3B?

atul

Atul,

Try Meerut, there's a word of Meerut being a bigger market than Mayapuri. There's a discussion on the same in the below mentioned thread.

Cheers !!!!!!

Yes, even I have heard about the market in Bhopal. It used to attract used jeeps from all over MP which were used in jungles by govt officials, contractors, miners etc.
But somehow the market has slowed down with newer models flooding the market including used car market.
