Was it you driving the Xenon Rahul?
Was it on stock suspension setup or was it beefed up to take those crazy jumps?
Cheers,

It was stock suspension set-up, raised a bit by tweaking torsion bars. Though we had covers plates to safeguard intercooler which is way down and other underbody parts.

Today I had a word with Force motors and they are at this time just busy with "Force one" (arey they trying to take advantage of F1 name ) which would be launched in August. So I doubt a soft-top Gurkha would be launched.

Check what I am talking about..

YouTube - Tata Xenon Full Throttle

and

YouTube - Tata Safari - Full Throttle

You are one lucky soul - envy envy

BTW - Which was better - the Xenon or the Safari?

It appears from the videos that the Xenon is more stable, has better character than the Safari!!

TATA dont have a soft top vehicle to deal with M&M THAR, which has opened a new segment for 4WD activity vehicle in India....

....Force Motors has all that is needed to counter M&M Thar, which is Gurkha, which was the India Army specific, but was not bought by the Army.

What did M&M do...old 540 body with new CRDe engine and we were handed the Thar.

what would Force Motors do....Old Gurkha body (soft top AND hard top) with a all NEW engine and we have a indian G Wagon!

trust me in a few month's time we would be discussing the All New Gurkha!

guess what?....Gurkha has the option of Hard Top Vs No Thar Hard Top!

Re: 10 Dummies guide to Gurkha ~ 17000 kms done

Pardon my ignorance pram leave alone opening a new segment but did Thar sell at all ?

As for Tatas , I think best they should do is to reduce weight of Safari by 150- 200KG and put better quality rubber bush in suspension. They have ultra heavy 5 doors and still do not make thud sound :-))

It is very capable but underrated vehicle.

Going OT but not sure I understand. On the Thar thread people ask for a hard-top because its available as a soft top. From Tata we want a soft-top because they offer a hard-top?

Re: 10 Dummies guide to Gurkha ~ 17000 kms done

Tata doesnt have anything to match THAR, where as FORCE Motors has Gurkha in their kitty to enable them to offer it in both ST and HT.

if FM does what M&M has done with THAR (540 body, scorpio chassis, CRDe engine), im sure FM could have a better vehicle in Gurkha if they re-launch it in both ST and HT.

maybe TATA employs someone to come out with a similar vehicle!

Question is does it needs to be matched at all ? Going by actual purchase numbers for Thar ( not the response on thread) I think not.

If Gurkha comes with the CRDI engine, it will just blow the THAR to THAR, to get buried under the sand. The issue is will Force be ever be able to do that.

In spite of the interest which Gurkha generated and many people approaching FM, they were not able to deliver, rather they never showed any interest. You talk to them about Gamma you would get many calls, talk to them about Gurkha the marketing team would remain clueless.

I have driven 6 Gurkha all in all till now and each of them has been different in some form or another even though it is in terms of sticker or door handles - so what they are doing is picking up parts from the discard bin and fixing them?

I recently had to change the rubber mounts and they were in different shape and sizes not matching with mounts on my vehicle - why?

I hope Force motors do a decent job with Force One and then get Gurkha with the CRDI engine. It will sell and hopefully I would be again able to write another review on new Gurkha

may be FM needs to hire a 4WD specialist with a passion and flare for OFFROAD activity.

i wonder how come the indian army didnt buy Gurkha, since it was hinted at them?

German army uses a lot of G-Wagons!

Simple answer.

Gurkha != G-Wagen.

Just look at the chasis, powertrain & body and you will see why. Do think the German army wants a jawan running behind the vehicle to pick up falling screws?

I didn't mean to thank you, but hit the thanks button by mistake.

Returned your thanks.

i think you wrote something wrong...German army uses G Wagon, Indian army dont! and i was talking about indian army not buying gurkha!

as per your post, you have mentioned German army's jawan running behind the vehicle!

@parm:

Maybe you can elaborate why you feel Indian Army should buy Gurkhas because German Army uses G-Wagens?

Or maybe you can highlight what the Gurkha Shares with the G-Wagen?
