Oh man, a very nice thread here.

Here is my Story:
  • 1.3 MPFI Gypsy for 2.5L
Some of the major work done so far:
  • Rear Lockers: 20K
  • Rear Overhang: 10K
  • Rock Crawler T-Case: 22K
  • MRF Zigma Tyres: 14K
  • Maxxis Trepador Tyres: 28K
  • Alloys: 18K
  • BMW Seats: 10K
  • SPoA: 15K
  • CFL: 22K
  • Front Lockers: 12K (purchased but yet to be installed)
  • Bilstien Long Travel Shocks for front (10"): 8K (purchased but yet to be installed)
  • Hi-Lift Jack: 5K
  • Traction Bar (Fabrication + Painting): 3.5K
  • FWH: 3K
Minor Work:
  • Under body coating: 3K
  • Denting/Painting of wheel arches: 3K
  • Battery: 3.5K
  • Hard Top Removal/Soft Top: 2K
  • Other running expenses: ~3k/month as workshop/labor charges & other consumables for small small things over the last 1.5 years
Pending:
  • Rock Sliders
  • Roll Bar/Cage
  • Under Body Protection Cage
  • Front Bumper
  • Snorkel
  • Rear small seat
Next Year (2nd Half)
  • 33" tyres
  • 9/10J Rims
Apart from above there are costs that would come under accessories like buying of a tent, tow ropes, D-Rings etc etc..

Most costly & priceless is the time it requires for such things. Between Aug 08 - June/July 09, I was literally spending EVERY weekend at the garage for getting things done. That takes a toll on LOT's of things but at the same time it is that effort we put in which makes our 4x4's so near & dear to our hearts. It would not be the same 'attachment' if we had spent just the money & not the time

Vinod, no further expense for few months, that is if I want to stay at home.. and CL340 was priceless man. I am not very good at maths, accounts and memory (selectively) but its overall cost was close to 2 or 2.25 roughly.

@Khan- Going strong man.. that is passion.

That was the funniest on-road incident in a long time.

Shahnavaz saab - you missed adding the Traction bar to your list.

Thanks DKG and Sir Alec for appreciation. It took a long 10 months to come to this stage. I started work on 5th Jan 09 and the pics is taken on "Dasshehra" sometime in End Sept 09 when I brought it home as a surprize to my parents.

Vinod/ Naren Thanks for the wishes. And one good point is my wifey likes the jeep very much though it is not my first vehicle(I own 2007-M800). We enjoyed couple of soft offroad rides together on weekends after marriage ... she was happy

After registration , My next work on Jeep would be to change the top. It is not made as per my idea actually . I want to change it and redo it.Then adding all those military specific accesories which I have alredy got. I ll fit those once the vehicle is registered.

If I add winch then it will cost a bomb but 2.25lks in total sounds good for my Jeep? What Say?

Tarkesh

The off road equipment you have is great! Only thing missing in your vehicle is A/c and p/s. I guess you didnt feel the need for them staying in cool climate areas. Way to go Vijay. Can you post the pic of your vehicle?
