Gurkha Garage Ver II

thalavoy,

I don't think force has one like a Scorpio getaway

Monster Bhp

I got the pre owned one at 4.5L first owner bought it for 8.5 & spent quite a bit on role cage, Endeavor seats , standly leather seat cover et all.

Gurkha Garage Ver II:

Swap LT2000 with MRF Sand Grip 7.5 16
They have run quite a bit & lost the 1st layer/step of thread.
Make a LOT of road noise like a very prominent Hum that gets worst with higher speeds.
Road manners are the same as LT2000 yet to take them off road.
Me feels that it become slightly lethargic too in the initial pickup
the Spare Tyre now wont go below the rear seat, looks like these are slightly (say 2cms) thicker than LT2000
I am not happy with the setup & looking for new Boots

Got Panasonic 5 way speakers, (Got them for just 1K INR form a Fishy! Place ) fit long side the rear wheel arches
Moved the car audio from Sonata to Gurkha, bought a new Sony for Sonata.

Fixed the silencer welding joint and put new rubber & Clamp 26 INR, Rubber 46 INR welding 120 INR

Removed the dent on rear bumper, 300 INR

Installed rubber washers at most Soft top roll-cage support joints
2 vertical channels were forming on the soft top that would collect water,
Hence put in flexible electric C type square casings to create an arch , did work but when its sunny the plastic tend to bend & loose flux
should look out for other options. may be the round black PVC will do a better job.

Alla baksh (force mechanic) increased the front height by almost an inch.
we had to remove the front bull bar, the bumper to access torsion rods.
Lift the vehicle, remove the torsion rod from the mount & re fit it.
Did this twice, but no height improvement. then the meck said as this has front diff axial they are not letting it fall or go down.
then we removed the shock absorber, loosened the axial, then one of us climbed on the wheels to push it down,
later at this wheel pushed down position inserted the torsion rods back.
Before the mod, when parked 4 of my fingers would fill the gap between the front wheel & the wheel arch, now I need 6 fingers to fill the same, 2 fingers high (almost an inch) cost 500 INR

Buffed just a part of body with silicone wax rubbing material it did reduce scratches, need to buff the entire body.

PTO lever & the rod holding ST above front seats are padded (in the corners) with packing material that reduces "squeaks" I hate them.

Did thorough checkup of vehicle health by connecting a laptop via USB & Python converter (40 K INR I believe) to the ECU. Was shocked to see the level of details that the vehicle outputs to the screen.

Changed the stock Air Filter from Bosh 460 INR

Extensive survey of available tires & rims done NO convergence as yet !

Liked the Maxxis BigHorn 305 - 70 -16
these will fit with a negative offset rims

Now in Love with Maxxis BigHorn 35 12.5 R16 .
These will need a lot of mods as described in http://www.4x4abc.com/G/35.html

Also Cleaned the Standly leather upholstery, now they look BRAND New

Enjoy some pics

Hisunil:

Those tyres look awsome. However, they are 35 inch tires and unless you change your diff ratio, you will see an impact on torque and pick up. The Gurkha is underpowered for the weight and 35 inchers will make it worse. 31x10.5x15 is your ideal tire size. If you want to use your existing rim try to source 245/75/16.

@14000rpm, I would like to see the tyre on it too, but costs a BOMB + Mags almost 85K
@ 4x4addict yes the 35 inch one is significantly heavier than the 33 inch ones, the stock tyre is 235/85/16, Have learnt from 4wd4all that we could change the final drive ratio from Stock of 4.9 to almost close 6 if we go in for a Tempo Excel 4's rear pinion .

Cheers

Hi Sunil,

You can change the differential ratio from 4.9:1 to 5.3:1 used in the JUDO/Town & Country. (OM616 & OM616T)

Arka

@hisunil: Wow, you actually managed to get the evasive 235/85/16 size? This is the right size for your Gurkha and you don't need to change the drive ratio. They are 31 inch tires.

Where did you get it from? Does the chap have more in stock?

@HiSunil, the air filter - that will be a regular filter, but manufactured by Bosch I guess. More like a routine replacement. ?

Also, pls upload the pics in your post (#61 on this page). See note from Mods in that post.

Guys Gurkha Garage Ver III :

Updates done:
Removed the role cage, will make it optional.
We will put smaller pipes in the removed role cage that will slide in & lock in to the body via a bolt.
Cosmetic Wheel hubs put that were actually not what I intended, I requested for Chrom Amby / Metadoor types but as they cost 650 INR just kept them too.
Discover STT LT235/85R16 put up
Door Lock Spring Issue Fixed
Oil filter changed
Oil changed (got Delver Mobi 1 MX but only 5ltrs, & had drained the oil) so have put in Castrol Magnetic, Also was perused to use Castrol Edge 4K+ for 4 ltrs will change back to Denver MX in couple of K's
Have got HID H3's in Hella Comet 550 but yet to fit them, wondering if on top of Snorkel is a good place

Workshop is Srinivasa Auto Garage's (one next to TTD & Choudia memorial hall near vialaikaval down bashim circle) branch , its on the road to mathikere road, take the right after IISC signal towards Yeshwanthpur, you take the right before YPR flyover & drive along side the IISC campus wall, once its ends after an apartment you find the garage please touch base with GovindRaj on 9886563387

Bad move removing the roll cage Sunil. Why are you compromising on safety?

What diameter and gauge are the current pipes and what are you planning to use in the smaller pipe? Do you think that in case of a roll over, the tiny bolts will hold up?

The current roll cage tube were welded to the body. Will removing them increase flex?

Tejas,

Wait for the Ver IV update where its back on, its configurable now.
I believe its reasonable strong as smaller dia pipes run inside the current role cage in either direction.
