Hi Wildon. Need help. I booked Chevy Optra Magnum(Company Car Lease). I specifically asked only for a 2012 model. I asked the dealer to give it to me in writing(Dealer Letter head) that the car is a 2012 model.The dealer agreed to do it and sent a document to me(Doc attached).
In the doc, the Chasis number is listed as: MA6NFABDCBH013412. The 10th digit should have been C(for 2012). Can you please confirm? From the looks of it, the dealer is trying to take me for a ride. When I took this up with him, he is adamant that it is indeed a 2012 vehicle. Luckily, I have this doc as a proof.

Wildon and I managed to get a conclusion on the Chevy VINs based on some research I did by speaking to a couple of Chevy dealers. It's NOT the 10th letter that denotes the year of manufacture, it's the NINTH. 10th denotes the model year.

So all Chevrolet owners who've booked post February 2011, this is for you:

Typical Chevrolet VIN (mine): MA6JFDADCBH-xxxxxx

Chars 1-3: Manufacturer Code (MA6)
Char 7: Month of Manufacturing (in my case A = January)
Char 9: Year of Manufacturing (in my case C = 2012)
Char 10: Model Year (in my case B = 2011)
Char 11: Manufacturing Plant Location (H = Halol)

Hi Klever,

Your VIN is MA6NFABDCBHXXXXXX so don't worry because the car's a February 2012 car, not 2011.

7th letter (Month of Manufacture): B = February.
9th letter (Year of Manufacture): C = 2012.

Your car is brand spanking new, so don't worry. :)

I checked your original post which started with TATA numbers but unfortunately could not read through the entire thread for updates.

Any info from you would be helpful as i dont want to be duped with a 2011 model as i'm paying more for the 2012 model.
