Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

Is there a separate VIN Decoder for Two Wheelers too? I tried to search but couldn't find.

Please Decode this VIN and inform me the entire Code:- ME4JF492ME8009927.

I wanted to create a New Thread, but Rules don't allow.

City Honda (2 Wheeler), Bangalore - Salesman tried to cheat me with this Vehicle. From the beginning, I was particular about 2015 Vehicle. I also inquired with the Salesman - How is it possible to get 2015 Vehicle within 5 days from Haryana to Bangalore? He gave me an affirmative answer.

And funniest thing is that he has collected the additional Excise amount Today. I guess the Dealer is stuck foot in mouth. After coming home, I checked that this is a 2014 Model. When I called up to the Salesman, he has asked me to talk to the Manager tomorrow. Let's hope, the Manager rectifies his mistake or misadventure to sell an Old Model at New Prices.

P.S - Can you make out the Month of Manufacturing also from the VIN??

Hello Jazz,

The 10th Char is E which should be 2014 as you rightly pointed out.
The 9th char M should determine the Month in this case , ideally this is the 13th alphabet.
There is a possibility (Iam not sure) that there was a halt in production for the two wheelers as well at Honda and if a month is skipped in between then we can assume M= Dec. Ideally December should be L.

The below link also says that the vehicle is Dec 2014

http://www.myvehicledetails.com/home/?page_id=4

I too was not able to find any specific guide for two wheelers and hence used the guide for 4 wheelers as a reference in this case and Iam uncertain about the authenticity of the information as well.

The best way to get this confirmed is by Form 22 which the dealer should have which is issued by the manufacturer.

Cheers,
pdma.

You can't. The dealer is giving you the VIN number on the window sticker, which is 17 digits.

Ask them to give you the VIN number which is stamped under the driver seat. Its a 19 digit VIN, which will give you the month of manufacture.

Many Thanks for your reply!

Meanwhile i read an earlier post where it was mentioned that VIN number from under driver seat gives the requisite details.

Came to know that last two digits of the VIN were *G. Means , he is giving a July 2014 model to my friend

Have informed him accordingly.

Thanks to all the members for enhancing customer awareness

It's Jan 2015 make. The tenth character for year and the eleventh for month, E stands for 2015 and A for January. You can refer the below link and I think for Nissan and Renault, you need to follow the same.

Apologies and you are right. It's a October 2014 make. Please do check the Form 22 certificate before confirmation.

Sorry if I am being repetitive. I actually wanted to know if there is any way to find out the exact manufacturing date. The thing is, according to the dealer, this car was made sometime between Jan 15th to 22nd. My birthday was on Jan 19th , so I wanted to know whether my car and I shared the same birthday!

Manufacturing date is 18.11.2014, according to this site:
http://www.vindecoderz.com/do/check-...BXXMRTBFC66397

Check the 'extra information' for the exact manufacturing date:

Sir are you sure this is accurate? This site says that the car is a 2014 manufacture, but according to the VIN letters 'FC' it is Jan 2015 right? Really confused right now. Have I been cheated?
