Couple of pages back I saw someone mentioning fakes available in the market, hence.

Do share a review when you get it! Though it seems like an overkill for dashcam use, could be a great alternative to GP Hero3 - substantially cheaper too!

Yes my primary intent is during the motorcycle rides. may end up buying a dual lens dash cam for car sometime later.

Re: SJ1000 Action / Dash Camera - An extended review

Hello guys,
SJ1000/4000 users, can you comment on the vibrations caused when mounted on the car windscreen. I've read a lot of reviews saying that the mounting accessories are not of good quality. There is a lot of vibration that gets thru the cam and as a result the video is quite shaky. What are your views ?

Re: SJ1000 Action / Dash Camera - An extended review

Can one of the users please post in-car pics of the cam. specifically.

1) The dashboard and IRVM mount please. I really don't like the idea of camera or (any thing actually) jutting out on my windshield. IMHO it is more elegant to hide them behind the IRVM. SO any pics will be of great help here.

2) Also from where do dash/IRVM mounted cams get their power from? Again I'm averse to the idea of an ugly wire hanging right down the middle of the car from the IRVM to the lighter point. Are there cams which are battery based? I don't mind changing the batteries frequently.

Essentially say if cost were not a constraint but quality of product and elegance and minimal change in the interior looks of the car were important, what would you people advise?

Thanks in advance.

Please check a video review of dash cams by Fifth Gear presentor Vicki Butler-Henderson on youtube. There was one model which is basically a replica of IRVM and snaps onto any OEM IRVM. It has a very discrete camera facing forward. I think there is a input availble for reverse camera as well so you can plug that and this will double up as a reversing camera.
this seems to be a good option but a bit costly.

For the power cord problem you will need a longer power cord and you can hide it by passing it behind the dash then wire it behind the A pillar and passing it behind the sunvisor. Typically this is done to hide the wiring for mike for ICE with this option. Same can be done for the power cable.

Re: SJ1000 Action / Dash Camera - An extended review

Thanks for the detailed review tsk1979. It helped me narrow down my search for a dash cam and I ordered the same model on dx.com website. However it has been more than a month since the credit card payment and the I have yet to receive the item.

On speaking with the customer care at dx.com, they are sticking to a set script of the item being shipped and in transit and are asking me to wait another two weeks. However, I am going on a holiday next week and wanted to take the dash cam along. Anyone have a clue in dealing with logistics on items from dx.com?

Appreciate any help.

Thanks again.

Thanks tsk. The parcel seems to be stuck at the Malaysian Airport for almost 3 weeks now. When I pointed this out to the customer service person at dx.com, they are not able to help in any way.

This means it will be with you next week.
I have seen that items which come in through Kolkota Customs usually sit there for often 2 weeks!

Wow, that's seems like a quick delivery heading for you. I guess mine is just a case of bad luck with the package sitting at the airport for straight 3 weeks! I have contacted DX.com again but I see slim chances of receiving the parcel anytime next week. I will now have to use a handycam to record the safari trip.

China post airmail often works like this. I get many packets after 2 months of shipping.
