Re: SJ1000 Action / Dash Camera - An extended review

After using the cam for 2 days i have noticed excessive shake in the video's
It gets horrible as you cross 3 digit speeds.
Any suggestions for a DIY to fix this?

The camera comes with an allen key. After fixing the camera to windshield and adjusting it, use the allen key to tighten the mount completely
Do it after you have adjusted the camera to desired angle.

Yeah, done that, but did not tighten it with full force for the fear of breaking it.
Will try it;I was also thinking of giving feviquick treatment to joints of the mount,
since i plan to use the windshield mount in single vehicle at the set position.

What is vibrating, the point where the mount slivels, or the clips where the cam clips into.

Do this. Put camera in mount. then try to wiggle the camera. If it moves slightly, i.e. clips are not tight fit, put a small piece of paper at one end to tighten it.

For example, my mobius is very stable, but there was a teeny veeny bit of play. A strip of paper fixed it so well that even on the worst roads in the world it does not budge.

You have to realize, when you pay 1/3 price for comparable image quality, you have to do a bit of DIY.

Re: SJ1000 Action / Dash Camera - An extended review

Anyone from Pune/Mumbai who has ordered from DX/l.DX? My consignment is stuck at Mumbai customs since last week
"2014-04-22 11:56, INDIA, MUMBAI AIR, Send item to customs (Inb), Air"
How long does it take normally for a package to get cleared from Mumbai Customs?

Depends upon the load. Normally, the max I have seen for Kolkota customs is around 2 weeks, Delhi customs = 1 week.
Maybe Mumbai is busier.

My shipment was stuck in Mumbai customs since 19-04-2014, a check today morning showed the same message. It was delivered to me at 12.30 PM, the tracking shows that it is still in Mumbai Customs, so you should get it in a couple of days.

Re: SJ1000 Action / Dash Camera - An extended review

And it happened
In my quest to mount the SJ1000 to the thar,i overtightened the cradle(using allen key) that holds the camera. Now the screw rotates freely and does not hold it in place. The only option i can forsee is to fix the cradle using feviquick;but that would make the mount usable only in one vehicle.

Can i purchase a spare mount?

Yes you can. Lots of ebay sellers sell mounts for SJ1000.

2. Universal 1/4" Suction Cup Mount + Tripod Mount Adapter For GoPro Hero 1 / 2 / 3 / 3+ (SKU:1004165)
3. Miniisw M-C 1 Elastic Chest Belt w/ J-shape Fast Assemble Plug for Gopro Hero 1 / 2 / 3 / 3+ (SKU:1003192)

Total - $117.32

I really like the way the videos you get with go-pro mounted on the chest mount. The SJ4000 uses most of the similar accessories as go-pro. Worth trying out this as an alternative to the INR 36k go-pro. Will mostly use it as a sports cam for the motorcycle rides.

There are couple of elaborate video reviews on SJ1000 and SJ4000 on Youtube by "Techmoan". Found them very informative to take any decision.
Received the SJ 4000 with all the additional accesories today.
Had to pay Rs 2100 as customs duty. I was expecting this as I feel Mumbai customs is more vigilant about these things. The packet was marked as gift and $15. Inspite of all of this I feel the Camera is very well worth it. Got the black colored which looks like the go-pro hero 3 black edition. Will review it over the weekend.

2100! that is like 30 USD. What is the assessed value customs took? 120 USD?

didn't see any assessment document along with the packet. probably document was taken back by the postman. I was not at home. I think 30$ duty for the 117$ total value which I paid is reasonable. And this is now fully duty paid. happy about that.

Is there any make/model that can do the photography for the time-lapse video, as well as shoot video in cycles?
