I have not yet DIYed a SACD player but one could DIY a resonable CD player, amp and speakers if one does not have the budget for consumer stuff...i mean you can get pretty nice system using a modified 63KI (diyAudio Forums - Marantz CD63 & CD67 mods list) mated to an EL34 PP amp (diyAudio Forums - Looking for EL34 PP Schematic Amp ? at least 35Watt) driving a pair of FE167 or JX92 (diyAudio Forums - Full Range)

Pioneer has done the same what it does always.
Yes, They've changed the model nos from 18/28/38/48 etc to 19/29/39/49 and now almost every HU in their range has front aux in. Some has the added benefit of USB too I think. Some of their new HUs look better this time.

New system info is up on their site. New models are X99X. See 3990 and the 2990, I think the webmasters have made a mistake, both specs seem the same.

New BT HU from Sony that pairs with about anything

From Engadget:

Quote:
In line with a growing concern for simultaneous calling / driving dangers, Sony releases the MEX-BT2500 Bluetooth head unit -- which isn't a far cry from last summer's MEX-BT5000, except for the makeover (or should we say under?) and huge drop in price. The stereo features an integrated microphone and wireless streaming for any Bluetooth-enabled cellphone, and is capable of remembering profiles for up to five different handsets. Bluetooth-enabled DAPs can also be paired with the 4-channel, 52-watt in-dash unit, while wired players can be connected via auxiliary input; if the you prefer to play CDs, Sony's got your back with support for MP3 and WMA encoded discs. As if that wasn't enough, musicphones supporting A2DP (like, ahem, many models from Sony Ericsson) can also be paired with this one, giving you pretty much the full slate of connection possibilities. Look for the BT2500 online and in stores by March, for around $180.
Release from Sony: Sony Electronics News and Information

Snippet from Sony's Press Release:
Quote:
The MEX-BT2500 head unit, the company’s second audio-streaming AM/FM CD receiver with wireless Bluetooth® technology, is easily paired with compatible Bluetooth enabled cellular phones. Up to five different phones can be linked to the receiver so the whole family can enjoy connectivity. An integrated microphone behind the faceplate eliminates the need for additional wiring, so the installation process is as quick and easy as an ordinary car stereo. Additionally, noise cancellation and echo reduction technology serve to enhance phone call clarity.
And there's an aux-in right on the faceplate itself.

That just a general catalogue. See Pioneer Homepage for India model Nos. Probably all the specs are just the same, with different no. (btw I just picked up the 2990 - front Aux-in, 1xRCA out)

Actually the XX50 series comes in Asia and XX90 series goes to US and Europe. So, the 2990 MustangMan got is sold here as 2950. It retails for 4k here in grey.

I am interested in 7950. A nice HU it is!!

Drive and play

Sam... where could one purchase the drive and play in Delhi? In addition, does the Drive and play unit connect the IPOD to HU with audio or line signal. Thanks
