Hi Guys,

Thanks for your replies. The Carpc install, specs etc will come in later maybe in another thread, i'm working on getting the benzel completed for now.

ok time for some more pics,

The araldite's now cured and the 3 pieces are glued together.

Taken out of the silver surround / shroud. Its held together really well and its got some degree of flex too which is good.

Another pic.

Another round of sanding before the body filler goes on, trying to get everything as level as possible.

Body Filler on.

Sanded Down all the way with fine grit paper.

Will be making another pass to remove any pinholes and uneven surfaces left. Notice the black paint at the edges of the LCD are mainly untouched so far. It will be done last with the minimum amount of sanding, priming and painting as the finish of the edges will add a great deal to the overall finish of the benzel. Gonna be time for painting soon, stay tuned .

I was wondering when you'd get to this thread, B&T. Great work, isnt it?

Can someone do something similar for my poor Safari?

@B&T thanks, i'm getting ready for a sound off with the GZ Palio, j/k .
@lbm, the components for the entire install are not fully finalised. GPS, OBD & wireless internet will be there for the CarPC. Since i am with iRide the CarPC unit will be the iPC-Lx maybe with a slightly different config. For sound there is a 5 channel amp - Audison Srx5, speakers and sub are not yet decided. A good external USB soundcard or a quality USB DAC is also on the cards.

This is indeed the way to go for the future - ICE, GPS, PC, Sat Radio all integrated into one device. Saves the trouble of having many little screens stuck to the dash or the windshield, saves you from fiddling with several different joysticks and touchscreens.

Imagine if you also had a small wireless keyboard embedded into your steering boss - a more advanced version of the pioneer steering mounted remote. Now that would be great!

Oh yes, definitely good stuff. Sheldon has a very well set up carputer kit in the Indigo, and the screen was earlier just mounted on a stand.

A lot of guys familiar with some fiberglass fabrication could do this for you. Especially in Dubai. Maybe you could go for it yourself too after seeking the blessings of dear Navin.

Sheldon: Looks like you got rid of your splendid Kenwood head unit to make room for this.

Wishful thinking. No way I will go down that route - I have no idea what this is all about, and am just a user.

Oh yea, won't even remotely miss it though . The only feature ever used on it was the aux in, since there was no amplifier installed then.

Here's how the dash was before this exercise ,

Did you mean WiFi or something like Reliance CDMA?

Great work - keep it up!
