As soon as the new 2008 HUs come, I will contemplate switching my 6050 for one of them. If I do so, I'll post an in-depth report.

Hi Vebmetal,

Are you contemplating replacing your Pioneer with a Kenwood HU?
In fact, I have a Kenwood MP4026V VCD player in my OHC Vtec. And I wanted to upgrade to either a Pioneer 7950 or an Apline 9883/9887....Are you suggesting that Kenwood car audio is better than Pioneer (of course, not better than Alpine)?

Isnt the 5039 over priced? Are these B&W prices? Grey prices should be 10-15% lower I guess? But then it would take some time before these products appear in the grey market?

They are B/W prices. 5039 = 5 - 5.5k grey. Its already avialable in grey since April star with some 3xxx and 2xxx HU's too. Dont forget to collect your free Kenwood USB drive with their USB enabled HU's if the dealer is generous to give it.

Yeah, the grey prices for 5039 is ~5k as per one of the above posts. The price that I quoted was by the guy at chennai head office and a similar price was quoted by one of the dealers here in Bangalore. I am looking for KDC-MP6039 (3 preouts+24bit dac) or KDC-MP6539U (additional feature compared to 6039 is USB compatibility) head unit. The south zone rep of Kenwood told me that in a week many new models are expected here in Bangalore. So waiting for that.

Thanks for the info guys.

So I assume that KDC-MP6039 = Pio 5050 and
KDC-MP6539U = Pio 6050 roughly? i.e. in terms of price and features?

Kenwood Service

This is for those who've bought a kenwood product with B&W.

How is their After sales service ? Is it on par with blau/jbl which have a wide service network ?
