Not really. I enjoy music and gadgets as much as the next person. A good amp is a good amp.

I am only glad to see music lovers.

It's hard for me get the Finolex power wire, No one is willing to sell them in meters and want me to buy the whole bundle (100Mts). There is a brand named PolyCab 25 SqMm which is available at 110 Rs/Mt. Shall i go ahead with this?

I do have plans of upgrading to a branded 0-2 Gauge amplifier Kit, which i'm planning to get from the US. I thought these cables were VFM, there are quite a few installs in tbhp using these wires.

Can someone tell me how much would a branded amp wiring kit (kicker/connection audison) cost here? what gauge would best suit my requirement.

you will not need 0 guage. I guess 2 gauge will be enough for you.

I would second what KK said. I feel that there's a reason why car audio companies got into manufacturing of power and speaker wires. Else why would they take the trouble if companies like Finolex and Polycab who make a lot more wire/more profit would cut it.

I believe m4gur8 (Manan) got his kicker wiring kit here in India for around 13K. I'm getting my 0 gauge kicker power kit from the US for around 7K.

@ Sathee, Can you tell us a detailed comparison between the JBL 1004 and the HK CA470.

Points that i need to know.
  • Difference in Mid Bass
  • Difference in Highs
  • Clarity of vocals etc.

EDIT: What is the fuse rating on the HK CA1500M

I hope you guys should have read my previous short review. First of all I would like to say the 1004 is a very good & powerful Amp, the following is a comparison of the amplifier with the CA470 which is of a much BETTER QUALITY.

Midbass - The 1004 was too harsh on the components, the bass reproduction was not very accurate. The distortion can be felt easily at higher volumes. The bass from the CA470 is punchy but soft, the bass reproduction is so natural. When I usually download/rip my tracks I first listen to them on my headphones (I have a sennheiser, which is a pretty decent headphone) some tracks which would have excellent bass while on the headphones would be totally different on the 1004, some would have very less bass & some very high. With the CA470 the music and bass is so natural, everything is just right (as good as the headphone). This is the thing which I like the most about the CA470.

Difference in Highs - Again if I start explaining this, I would end with something similar to the above. The highs blends just perfect with the rest, which I think is very important when we listen to music at a length. They sound a lot more pleasant. But I think this has got to do more with the speakers than the amplifiers. The CA470 has made them sound so sweet, the 1004 was a bit too bright/harsh in comparison

Clarity of vocals - The vocals are not let down, they are equally good. They sound crystal clear with nil distortion. There is a good improvement from the 1004 which I can’t explain by just words. Listening to classic songs and some unplugged music can easily tell you the quality of vocals, I’ve never been to a live concert of Bryan Adams but now I have an idea what it would feel like

one more thing is when I had the 1004, on long trips I could not keep the volume up for a long time. With the CA470 the music is so pleasant, I keep increasing the volume.

The figures in the paper tell a different story, I don’t really understand all the numbers and the technical jargons. This review is solely from a normal person who just loves music and not from an audiophile. Someone who auditions my setup can tell you how true it is. Hope this says it all!!

The fuse rating of CA1500M is 80A

Guy's I'm totally confused on the wiring part, my install depends on it. Anyone care to tell me the disadvantages of using these house hold wiring. I totally respect your views on using branded wiring, but would like to know the pros and cons.
