Music System for Swift

Dear All,

I am planning to install a new music system in my Swift. My maximum budget is 12-15K. Shortlisted Pioneer 3190 and 4190 (CD versions) head units. Is there any other make (HU) I should look into like Kenwood or Sony? Please recommend. One of the shops in Hyderabad quoted 6850 for 3190.

Could any one recommend me set of 4 door speakers and a reliable place in Hyderabad to install the same.

Any help is really appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

15K for new front speakers and HU.

Me thinks JBL's GT5 6" components or Blaupunkt THc (7-8K) in the front mated to a Pio 4190 (7K) should sufffice.

7K for the 3190 is a bit high. The 4190 sells for about that much.
Also consider Kenwood.

that leaves only 8K for 4 6" coax speakers. Blaupunkt THx, JBL GT5, Bull Audio may be your best options.

Hello Experts,
I have following setup in my Indica Vista
1) OEM clarion Head Unit
2) Front: JBL GT5 S-265c components
3) Rear: JBL 947 6x9

Now soon I am adding amplifier to this setup... I have shortlisted Kenwood KAC 8401 4 channel amplifier. I wanted to know, am I right with this amplifier selection? Right now I am planning to use all four channels for front and rears. Next month I will buy a sub and bridge rear two to power sub.

Another important query I have is that. Actually Vista front door can accomodate only 4" speakers. To fit 6 1/2" Components in front I needed to cut metal and fit the speakers. Speakers are in place but the grill on plastic door panel is as it is. I mean it is meant for 4" speakers. What do you think, Is it affecting front sound quality? If I cut plastic door panel and attach speaker grill which comes with speaker then what will be difference in sound quality? I feel that I am not getting sufficient bass in front. May be small grill is obstructing sound. Please suggest?

Thanks,
Sushant

Is it worth replacing a 2 year old Pioneer 306DVC with a 2 year old Pioneer 3004 SPL?

How much should one expect to pay for the 3004?

The 3004 is a very low sensitivity sub. With which amp you will be driving it ?

HU and Speakers for Swift.

Dear Gurus,

My cousin is getting his Swift Vdi next week. He asked me for suggestions on ICE. In between one of my close friend is coming from US and agreed to buy car audio for me. I have searched this thread and net and came up with the following three options.

1. Clarion VZ309 - $130 @amazon.com (3.5-Inch LCD, Single-DIN Multimedia Station with USB Port)
2. Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD - $295 @amazon.com (5.8-Inch Widescreen In-Dash Double-DIN DVD Multimedia AV Receiver)
3. Pioneer DEHP5100UB - $209 (SCD Receiver with USB Control and OEL)

Out of these three please advice me which is a superior product and value for money. I have put AVH-P3100DVD here as it is just $90 higher than a single din pioneer HU. And also please let me know whether all these HUs will fit into Swift.

When coming to speakers as of now he prefers to go for front components only and may add rear speakers at a later stage. I have short listed the following speakers.

1. Illusion Electra EL 6.1- Rs.6500
2. JBL GTO6583C – (No idea about the price)
3. JBL GT5 650C – Rs.4900

Of the above three I don’t have any idea about the technical superiority, product quality and sound clarity. Please advice me whether the above speakers will fit into the Car without any modifications. Mostly classicals, ghazals and melodies of 80s will be played in the system. So please advice me the correct component system and HU for the above requirement. The total budget he can afford is INR 15000 for a single DIN system and INR 20000 for a DVD/2 DIN system.

Thanks in advance.

Advice needed

Gurus,

I drive a Esteem LXi and my current ICE is as follows.

HU - Sony CDX GT470US
Front - JBL 4" Co-axials - GT5-S204
Rear - JBL 6"x9" Co-axials - GT5-S396

Prominently I listen to Indian classical music, classic rock and rarely Bollywood. Lot of my collection is MP3 either on CD or USB Stick. Currently the sound quality is very bad. Have to crank to nearly 20 on volume when driving on highway even to listen to all details in the music. Now which of the three components above do you think is the culprit ? My vote goes to Sony HU, which lacks the 'DSO' button, which I had on Sony GT350 in my earlier car.

If my suspicion is correct can you please advise on a good HU. My primary requirement is good quality reproduction of music notes. The HU should have USB port.

Any other budget advise also is OK. If it warrants I am ready to change the existing setup to something better within 15K, but it should be last option

Many Thanks
Bullfrog

cutting metal to fit a 6" in the space for a 4" can get tricky.

1. there needs to enough room for the window to go up and down easily.
2. when something like this is done it make sense to add some damping to the door. you will be surprised at the efficacy of the damping in improving the quality of the bass/midbass.
3. a spacer is generally used and this needs to be installed well. a poor install will lead to rattles and buzzes.
