IR module (1838T) has metal casing with opening at one side. Looking at it from opening side - where to connect three terminals L-R 1,2,3 and PCB marked (GND, IR, and 3.3V).

Yes, I have the fm transmitter for the ipod touch, but there is a very noticeable decrease in sound clarity quite obviously.

i have it too but its really not worth it.

1. sound clarity is a total miss
2. u cant shuffle songs
3. every time u switch of the ignition the song starts from the begining again.

It better buying a new USB system which today might cost 5k which i plan!

I was told IR module has points as "IR" , "G", "5V" when using from Left to right.
please correct me if i am wrong.

You are right, that's correct order of connection.

BTW, the kit I have seems different than yours. Because it does not have so many electrolyte capacitors, but has just one on PS +5V. Not even on the output stage.

My observation about this is ->
SOUND:
  1. It’s very LOW and I need to put a fet based preamp. Even cannot play headphone directly.
  2. SQ is good for FM and USB MP3. (May be I am using good quality - LM 317 regulated 5VDC power supply)
  3. Low end bass is good, vocal are clear but high are harsh/sharp. May be I need to listen more with low levels and preamp in place. I used my best amplifier for this purpose.
USEFUL:
  1. User point of view this is very very basic. All songs are played sequentially with options to repeat one or all.
  2. No option to select folders, complete drive's mp3 files are added to
  3. At power failure/resumption, does start at same point from where left.
  4. Six Equalizer settings are present.
  5. Takes 10 minute to build and make it running. PS was ready.
SUMMARY:
Not a high end system but moderate in SQ and basic in user friendliness. But still cannot beat good mp3 players like IPOD or mobile phones (I have Nokia N-series) and basic HU with USB options. So planning to use this as desktop mp3 player/fm radio with some preamp addition.

What else to expect from Rs 160/- kit with remote control?

If need to see pics let me know.

Power supply for +5VDC. I omitted C1, D1 and D2 as input was already having 1000uF/16V capacitor.

thanks, you remote is same as mine.
the PCB is different, Mine has components similar but placed differently.

were you able to connect IR module ?
in my kit it was having 3 solder points below the Digital display.
the "R" below the playback control was for "Repeat"

Also what input volt would be converted to 5V in your circuit ?
can this LM117 be used with car battery ?

Input to LM317 can be upto 40V, but minimum required is (output volt + 3.5V) at input. Output voltage is tuned with changing R2 in above circuit. You can see red color trimmer in my PS.

Yes definitely.

Main advantage over 7805 regulator is -
1. Better regulation in terms of ripple rejection
2. Low level of noise in output.
3. Output could be changed as per requirement
4. Current upto 1A (needs heatsink)

nice DIY.
but instead of the whole power supply cant you just connect a 7805 with the car battery and connect the output of the 7805 to Vcc?

Yes. That can be done. But I told my points for selection of LM317 over 7805. Noise is reason which affect digital circuit output.

But using 7805 is simplest solution for battery as source. I don't prefer 7805 in audio projects powered from mains.

@ghpk: looking at above TO220 package of LM317, same package of 7805 regulator from left-to-right pins 1,2,3 are Input, ground and Output.

thank you sir, I appreciate your help.

let me check with that shop why my IR is not working with this PCB, may be will need to buy another one to experiment.
Remote it fine but doesn't works on this PCB.

1st day i connected IR module at "IR" pin near playback buttons, IR module was red hot and i purchased 2 more, but even connected at right place no remote doesn't work.

Note: to check if your remote is working or not, you can use your Camera of Mobile phone and focus remote's IR LED towards it, if remote works you'll see flickering Lights.
