time to upgrade !!

ok i currently have following setup :
HU - sony 5510 - doesnt need upgrading
Rear speakers : Kenwood 6989ie
Front speakers : Some crappy round ones provided by the company
No amp and no sub.

i am planning to get followin things :
Decent amp ( budget - @5-6k)
Good rear speakers with enough bass - i do not intend to put in a Sub ( budget - @5k )
Good front speakers ( budget - @3k )

so the overall budget is around 15K.

guys / gurus - shoot !!!

Amp under 5K - Sony 504
You for a pair of 6x9 in the rear already. The 6x9 I like not offer much more bass but do offer a smoother mid and hf (Alpine 690A, Infinity, etc..) they all cost upwards of 5K. Maybe the JBL 963 will work. Listen to them.
Front JBL 536 are good. Actaully if you have a Corsa you can use components. You'd have to strech your budget to 5K though. I use the Infinity 5510 in my wife's sail.

infinity will cost you quite a bit.any way check them out.also check out the JBL GTO 936.im sure youll be impressed with that bass and you wont feel the need for a sub !! unless you want to wake up your neighbours (like how i do )

if you really want good music up front youll have to go in for components as navin said which will be pretty expensive way over 3k but are def worth it.5 inchers should do the trick if your looking out for JBl then i think the model no. is 506

amp i guess the sony 405 should be okay which is totally VFM unless your looking out for something better.

the JBL amps run about 6k, 9K, 10K for the 60x2 ch. and 60x4 ch. and 300x1 ch. versions. PM Sam for exact prices. My numbers can be wrong by 50%.

No Navin, this time you're almost spot on
5990 for the 60.2, 8990 for the 60.4 and 9990 for the 300.1

ok how would this combo sound :

JBL 60.4 amp - Rs. 9000
Kenwood 6989ie @ rear - XXXX
JBL components - 506 ( 5" speakers ) for front - Rs. 3000

all this paired with sony 5510 HU.

this will remain within my budget for now ( total comes to 13k - including installation ) so budget wise its fine.

kenwood speakers in the rear.you sure you want that ?? because you wont have a sub so all your bass will have to be produced by your rears.you think kenwood will be enough for you. ?? id get a better rear if i were you.

the 506 isnt 3000 its 5000 and similarly as sam said the 60.4 is for 9990 not 9000...unless your getting these at a discount.

sorry about that -

Kenwood part - i am happy with the bass they produce right now- but with Amp, will it get affected (negatively ??) ? In that case i might change the rear spks too

no there wont be any negative effect with the amp.it will only get a little louder and bass may increase.if your happy with it its kool. but i suggest you just hear some other brands too.maybe at the same price you may get something better

actually its not a problem to upgrade the Kenwoodso any other good speakers -- but when a SUB gets into my car, its highly possible that i would be left with an old Kinetic to drive
My father thinks Subs are something to do that Dhak chik dhak chik in car - and i cant get him to change his opinion at all so.........

OK there is one more question :
Do i need a 4 channel amp ( CS60.4 ) for this setup (GTO504@ front , Kenwood 6989 @ rear )
or a 2 channel amp would do the job ??

HHHmm .. Dont worry HK .. U arent alone .. My dad thinks the same too .. Wondering what could his reaction be like if i were to tell him im getting a new hertz 12'' sub in lieu of my existing 10'' ..

Coming to ur question , its preferred to amplify both the sets of speakers for which u will need a 4ch amp , however if ur on a tight budget u can get a 2ch amp to run the front compos and use the amp on the HU to run the rears ..
