Sanjay,

Now that the setup is done, demo given, appreciations flowing can we have the entire set up in a few pics please.

Also what about the moolah? I had earlier asked whether the set up would be insured, pls let us know.

Not 10 times, but you can run setups 3-4 times as powerful as yours without any issue.

I hope that 3D effect which was there in mine but missing in yours is back. There is also a big difference in the Kenwood and JVC sound signature which was obvious after the back to back auditions the other day.

Can't wait for you guys to give it a 2nd shot. Was taken aback with what massive difference EQ settings can do? Good that there are 3 user EQ settings which can be stored. Have copied the powerzone tuned settings to the other 2 as well so that all 3 are same as of now. Maybe at next meet you guys can take a shot at bettering the same now that the speaker would have opened up more.

Hope the setting stays in HU memory when battery is disconnected during service.

One question - Is there any difference in feel factor when you listen to the song in 5.1 and in 2 channel setup. I always felt that the punch is more and satisfying in traditional 2 channel than in the 5.1 for song tracks.

Any Endhiran premiere planned

Sanjay, I missed to mention.. the tile of this thread "Now... Playing at a FIESTA Near You...In Ultra-wide Cinemascope" is quite thoughtful.

Any plans to premiere Endhiran.

Lovely ICE setup there sanjayc! It's beyond my wildest imagination (let alone dream) to have such a powerful ICE in a sedan. The best I have experienced is inside my Dad's Lexus. It's got a Mark & Levinson system with 18 odd speakers. I don't know the break-up but it sounds good.

I know this is , but could you kindly tell me if my Fortuner's ICE can be replaced for a better system at Powerzone (I mean like exchanging the 6 CD in it)? Or will I have to shell out extra for it which means the existing stock system would be lying down anew. Wouldn't want that to happen. . This I ask as a favour.
Thanks

You always have the option of Team BHP classifieds to reachout to potential buyers.

Just wondering if the steering control will still be used if you intend to replace the packaged ICE with aftermarket ICE. I checked with one accessories shop, he said it can be done. not too sure. I've also seen some classified in Auto magazine who specialises in such installs.

Yes the steering controls can be used with aftermarket HUs with the use of some adaptor. Most good installers would know about these.

Backup taken in form of snapshots & writing it down - am planning putting the hardcopy in bank locker, off-site storage etc LOL. Will soon officially draft a COB (continuity-of-business) policy for the same

You are absolutely right. But I have mentioned earlier also here, some songs do sound good in Dolby PLII Music decoding. In the JVC HU, option is there to play in 2.1, 4.1 and 5.1. In 5.1 mode, in case the Front speakers are set to small, signals are send to the sub...if set to large, sub is ignored. Option of enabling/disabling the rear speakers are also present.

Thanks Champ. I am beyond words.
So, when is the Lexus being handed down to you?

I am a complete noob at all these. Will PM you the number of Powerzone. You can contact him directly regarding these. Among the pros out here (with whom I have personally interacted with ), you can get in touch with Gilead/PR_007/Donarun for advise...not to mention dozens of other experts in this forum. Suggest you open a thread/post in the dedicated ICE thread, and in no time people will pounce on you with good, selfless advice.

IMO, upgrading with a good set of speakers/sub/amp should be a major improvement. You should actually retain the OE system and replace the same once you decide to sell the vehicle. Replacement/Exchange market is pretty pathetic I think.

There are quite a few HUs out there which are compatible with existing steering remote...even this JVC of mine mentions the capability in the manual - note the [A] in image below...it should be piece of cake I guess for Powerzone, or for that matter, any ICE installer, provided the HU supports it.

JVC HU install connections

@Sanjay: It is truly mind blowing, and the work is done pretty neat as well. Congratulations on that!!!!

One thing that I wanted to ask is the OE HU is a 2-din one, right? But the new one that you have fitted looks like a single din HU. If possible, can you upload a picture of your center console. And you still haven't mentioned the total price of this set up as well??? If you dont mind, can you pls put it here or PM me..

Thanks!!!

The HU is indeed a single DIN. It is fitted using a custom made dash kit by the installer, Powerzone. Am on a hunt for a OE dashkit but once the initial excitement is gone, may just settle for the current custom kit.

Did'nt I put the price in some post earlier..may have missed out.

The entire setup is in the range of 1.3L...it would have been half if not for 5.1 surround. For a decent front-focussed setup, cost of 1 amp, 2 comps at rear instead of cheaper coax or exiting OE spkrs, center spkr, wiring, less fancy HU would have contributed in lowering the overall cost by almost half.

Sanjay,

This is really, really cool! (Mods, pls. this is not a one-liner!! No other way I could have expressed my fascination.)

So much different from the simulation stuff we do on our PCs, post design. So next Q is : Do we need to drive down to Chennai with our Fiestas? Or we invite you to NCR?

Waiting for more updates from you on other modifications.

SM@, thanks. I am missing the thrill of my Chennai 2 Kolkata drive earlier this year..an invite to NCR seems tempting, just to increase my FE, if not anything else.

Please please please count me in (passenger seat or rear seat or even in the boot), I would love to do a long drive in the 5.1 theater , probably we could ask Ford India to even sponsor the whole trip for their promotion or whatever !
