No there are no user adjustable LPF/HPF. There is a fixed LPF for the subwoofer out.

Sam do we even need the LPF? Most subwoofer (and many stereo bridgeable amps) amps have a LPF so can this LPF be bypassed?

Also do the speaker level outs have a HPF is a subwoofer is attached?

Breath of fresh air after a loooong time on team bhp. Good one navin.

I back what navin says about a neat little package for less than 20k, most would love to have this one. Sam, where are these being manufactured ?

Wow, this is awesome. Maybe I can finally convince dad to get an ICE. Although I've dreamed of a carputer setup [Blame the ICE section for that]..let's see. So, with the X333 HU and the 644 Amp Navinji says would make a great budget combo, is it the rear or the front speakers that get amplified ? Here's another noobie question on amps. Would an amp serve any purpose if one were to keep volume low enough for the RMS output of an average HU to handle ?

@anku94:As far as i know I think Navinji is mentioning the JBL GT5 644 amp which is a 4 channel amp.So you gt to power your front as well as the rear speaker. The second question will be answered by the Gurus.

No there is no discussion thread on the MS-8 on Team-BHP as of now. I would happy to answer any questions you may have on that thread.

Did you mean to ask "Do we need an amp if we only want to play at low volume?" If so:

1. Your dad might like it that way, you may not
2. An amp makes the experience better in either case. At low volumes, the HU amp may not be able to drive lows so well, the amp does better. At higher volumes the amp will help play loud without distorting

+1
Even with an amplifier, at low volumes, I can hear only the highs from the tweeter.
The reproduction of the mids and lows take a lot of RMS indeed.

It was more of an academic question. I'll have a hard time convincing my dad to go for decent car audio. He currently uses his Samsung Guru 1390's radio for en route entertainment. Didn't even buy a memory card. The only time he ever contemplated an upgrade was when he heard of Chinese HUs you could get for under 1000 bucks.

So is providing additional power when the HU gives up [which, apparently happens way too frequently] the only function of an amplifier ?

offtopic: thats not because of insufficient power, thats because the ear works that way
more info : Equal-loudness contour - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
this is what the 'loudness' feature is supposed to compensate for

The primary reason being that most of us have never heard an MS-8 in action, leave alone own one.

The other car audio forum where the MS-8 was "re-chirstened" and where poor Andy patiently answeed a whole bunch of rather silly questions spent more time hypotetising over the MS-8 than discussing the MS-8 once it was out. This is not TBHP's style. We prefer to listen, experience and then talk! na? What say guys?

Is the MS-8 even available in India for rupee payment?
