Spotted this speed limit on a KPN regular bus in Bangalore today.

Re: Intercity Bus travel reviews

Hope this is the right place for this query.
(I need to attend a friend's wedding at Udupi.)

Is there any AC sleeper (Volvo preferred) service between Pune and Udupi?
How are the road conditions from Belgaum to Udupi?

I don't want to break my back sitting in a bus for 14 hours -one way- journey since I have a hectic schedule.

Are you sure it was the BGLR trip? The Madurai bus also starts from Iyyatil junction, and that route gets old B7Rs (KL45 reg - actually re-registered buses - they were all KA01/KA03 earlier).

The Madurai bus leaves at 2125 and the Bangalore bus (B9R) goes at 2130.

If it was indeed the Bangalore bus, then it could be a special trip - or the B9R had a breakdown/accident.

This was the bus. Sorry for the poor clarity. My mobile cam doesn't have flash.

This one:

This bus was on the Coimbatore-Chennai route earlier. Later on, it was moved to Coimbatore-Trivandrum. They also rotate this bus on the Ernakulam-Madurai route. So, most probably you saw it running on the Madurai route.

Nope, there are no AC sleepers between Pune and Udupi. Your best bet would be a Volvo. Providers are VRL, Vishal, Canara Pinto, Southern SRS, Neeta, Anand and KSRTC. Most of them would leave from Pune at 5 PM ( Leaving Mumbai at 2:00 PM) so that they reach Udupi by 6:00 AM the next morning.

I believe VRL and some other travels have multiple buses on this route and you would get a choice of timings but unfortunately no AC sleepers.

^Thanks. Looks like I need to be prepared to break my back.
Train options are also not convenient. No direct trains from Pune on Friday or Saturday night.

You have Pune-Ernakulam Poorna Express from Pune on Satudays (I guess it leaves at 2300hrs).

The wedding is at 11:30 AM on Sunday, so this train won't help.

Your best option would be to board Matsyagandha Express from Chiplun/Ratnagiri (Konkan)

Re: Intercity Bus travel reviews

Any reviews / feedback on the newly introduced SRS Multi Axle from Bangalore to Trivandrum (49 seater)? As per their website, the bus leaves Madiwala at 830 PM and reaches Trivandrum at 7 AM. Running time of less than 11 hours !!! The website also says this bus has no dinner break - any idea if and where the bus stops for attending to nature's calls in the night? Am specifically asking this as I will be traveling with my wife and so clean toilets are important

Many thanks in advance!!!

This service is there for quite some time and reaches TVM at 7am usually (TN route).
They have another service to TVM via Cochin which reaches between 6.30-8.30am.

@coolclouds: I hope you haven't confused SRS with SRM. The SRS website shows only ONE service to Trivandrum.
