AkMar
Hi
Great of you to load the pictures and contribute to the thread. At the same time keeping it alive.
Your picture of August Kranti exp:I was under the impression that the color scheme is different.(the generator vans are there). Also the train is hauled by WAG 7.Has all that changed?
Regards
The train spotting on the Konkan is the most satisfying ever !
Reminds of old times on the Goa express.
Alas I was a student traveling on those beautiful routes and hence had no camera to go with!

Are you referring to the red with cream band at window level colour scheme? That is used for the conventional design Rajdhani coaches, whereas the scheme pictured here is in use on the LHB Rajdhani coaches. Also, the train never had WAG-7 as its loco link. WAG-7 is a goods loco which is cleared for only 100 km/h whereas the train needs a 130 km/h capable loco. You may have got confused between WAG-7 and WAP-7 (meant for passenger trains). The loco in picture is a WCAM-2, capable of running in AC as well as DC. This was required as Mumbai was under DC traction while the rest of the country was on AC. Now, Western railway has changed to AC and hence WAP-x locos come all the way upto Mumbai.

True. Am going again later this month, lets see what opportunities of photography I get!
Now, a few photos from a meter gauge trip undertaken in 2009 on the Akola - Ratlam route in Maharashtra and MP along with fellow member binaiks and a few more friends.
Curving out of Akola
A wayside station abuzz with activity at a crossing!
Speeding through rock cuttings.
Entering Khandwa
Signalling equipment at a station near Khandwa
Another crossing
Curving onto the Narmada bridge at Omkareshwar
Narmada river at Omkareshwar
Entering Kalakund.
Awating departure from Kalakund
Chugging on a curve in the ghat
Beautiful views from the ghat
Entering Kalakund, a bustling Meter gauge station.
YDM-4, IR's meter gauge workhorse at Mhow
The route also has a spiral, there the track passes underneath itself after taking a curve. Here is a video of it:
On the Dhulghat spiral - YouTube
Just got curious after seeing "AEB Fitted" on the side
anyone knows what does it mean? Check the first pic.

Ratlam-Indore-Khandwa-Akola is one of the few meter gauge lines still functional.
And its beautiful! :)
Alas I never have had a chance to travel on this line.
Back from a trip to Hubli, Braganza and Konkan railway! Pics still being edited. Here is one :)
The pics are almost done. But the issue is, there are so many of them that they could be a subject of a separate thread :P Dunno whether such a thread will be accepted though. Any suggestions on what would be the best way to post them?
Meanwhile here is a video. Enjoy the track sounds :)

Description: The Nizamuddin - Yeswantpur Karnataka Sampark Kranti express madly accelerates after clearing the yard and level crossings at Belgaum, with generous dosage of honking! You can make out the acceleration from the track sounds. Since it was totally dark, there is no video footage. Instead, I have inserted images taken earlier in the day on board the same train.

Yes, AkMar. We took a walk from castle rock to dudh sagar.
Some pictures from the Karnataka Samparkranthi express near to Bina station
A few pics from a trip to Matheran.
We started our trek along the tracks.
We could hear the whistle from a distance and she came along.
There were a few machos trying to show off lol:
