Braganza ghats is beautiful. Thanks for the pics. I have taken this section once on my way to Pune. The sight of doodhsagar in all its might brought tears to my eyes.
I have read that people trek to the falls too. A superb write up by Laluks.

Hope to do this some time soon. :)
We went trekking itself! :) We got down from the train at castle rock and walked the way down to the falls.

Now you are making me jealous. I would love to gather more info from you when I plan that trip. :thumbs up
I would be glad to help. Also I have uploaded more pictures in Laluji's album. The entire route is too scenic to be experienced through train. Hiking along, we can both experience and capture good pictures. If only the weather was a bit foggy, this would have been awesome. Will upload some more railway related pictures in some time.
Lovely thread, 5 star rated. Here is my contribution. The Nilgiri Mountain train
The Ooty station
Train ready for its downward journey
Look at the lean of the train on one of the turns
Good Ol steam engine still used on this sector.
One of my favorite pictures. This was taken at Ketty Station.
A few pics from the early morning train spotting session.
ED - Erode WAP4 with the Kanyakumari - Bangalore Express Rake
ED - WDM 3D with Bangalore - Ernakulam Intercity Express Rake
RYM - Royapurram - WAP1 with the Tirupati - Chamarajanagar Fast Passenger Rake
Lalguda - WAP7 with the Bangalore - Chennai Lalbagh Express
A couple of pics from the rail fanning from the recent Kanyakumari Drive.
The Golden Rock WDM2 with the Kanyakumari - Tirunelveli Passenger Rake
Wanted to take pics of the WDP3A (the one with twin cabins similar to the Electric Locos) from the Golden Rock shed which pulls the Jammu Tawai - Kanyakumari Express, but the rains ensured I could not get a pic of it.
Will upload a few videos, its getting uploaded on YouTube :D
^^ Which was the location of trainspotting? Before or after BYPL? Or even beyond?

I think its mainly after the station before the BYPL ramp or the KR Puram flyover. Perfect place for spotting.
Some times you can also shoot curvature of the train getting towards Yelahanka.

The spotting is before the BYPL station from the East Station side. There is a nice long stretch. The stretch after BYPL is also a good place.
But if you take you car along, the place after BYPL will not serve good.
For high speed stretches, I guess any place after Whitefield should be good. Will try and make it there too.

Chennai I am not sure. I have seen some people stand around the Basin Bridge curve (before the Basin Bridge station; at the outer).
I think thats a decent place.

This is the old freight yard of BYPLM. The yard was used to unload steel products and coal for many years. Now since the flyover work has started at BYPL gate, the yard is no longer used.
I am guessing these pics were taken a while ago since SBC-ERS now runs on a GOC WDG4 and the flyover in the background has a ramp on it.
The best place for trainspotting would be BYPL itself . This would be in terms of traffic and not high speeds. High speed runs could be caught between KJM and WFD.
