Beautiful! Swift really looks a different car after debadging!
But the 'Got Bhp?' sticker is distracting from the 'clean' look. The team-bhp sticker on the rear glass should have done the job and looked perfect!

I need some help removing the glue after removing the badge from my car.
I tried deodrant spray, soap solution and even bought a bottle of Lakme nail polish remover.
After a few broken nails this is the best I could achieve:
Any suggestions? |
The first post recommends Diesel for this very purpose. Did you try it?

D.I.Y :- Use the hair dryer to heat the section with the decal. Make sure you don't overheat it or your paint will fade/crack.
- Once sufficiently heated use the thread, put it behind the badge and start to slice one section off at a time. Slow and steady!
- There might be some residue/gum left on the hatch, this is where the rag/diesel comes in.

Thanks. Yes, I know it looks different when debadged. Really liked the 'Got BHP" sticker so didnt feel like removing it.

IMO, the Punto & Linea look superb in their original avatars. Apart from removing the "name" I guess you don't gain much, unlike de-badging other makes! |
Just for a small discussion, what else do we gain when we debadge other makes?
Do you mean to say that a lower variant of a car can be debadged and made to look like a higher variant?
For me the clean look (of the Abarth) was more appealing than with the chrome badges on the punto.
I also believe in the popular saying "WHATS THERE IN THE NAME" :)

I debadged my swift (pic in the thread) because I love the clean look.
However, since I also got the door handles & ORVMs painted, installed fog lamps, blackened the rims and got wheel caps too there are a lot of people who think that its a Vdi. Its only when they sit inside do they realize that its not a Vdi.
Now my intention wasn't to make it look like the higher variant but what all aftermarket works that I got done along with debadging makes my Ldi look like a Vdi.

Did you also get the A & B pillars look similar to the v/z models ? Could not see that in the picture posted.
If yes, can you please share a picture with the side profile of your car and also let me know if you used paint or vinyl tapes to complete the job.
Thanks

It was black tape that I got on the A-B pillars, cost me 400 bucks. There are two type of tapes that you'd encounter, shiny ones and non-shiny ones. The one in OEM unit is shiny, not sure if its 3M though.
Just go out in any auto market and ask them to put the tapes on A & B pillars, most would know what you are talking about.
I debadged my Dzire.
The removal of the badges was very easy with a hair drier and nylon thread. The problem was complete removal of the sticky stuff, 1 to 0.5 mm of it.
The method I used was to heat up the glue with the drier, it becomes soft, and then pry it off with a plastic knife. you will have to do 1-2 alphabets at a time as the glue cools down if you attempt to do more. Now you will be left with a fine (thin) layer of the glue on the paint. For this I used kerosene and fingernail. It is a little time consuming to get it all off. Thereafter, I was left with a layer of grime which had settled around the edges of the badges. This did not come off with shampoo, but a claying job with Mother's left it super smooth and flawless. NO scratches.
Now I have a clean behind. Pics coming up..
I got my debadging free, thanks to some unknown badge fanatics. I was bitter against them , until I went through this and now I feel blessed !
My debadged Ritzy .
One day while cleaning the car, thought of debadging it.
But i must say after removing the badges remove the glue was really tough.
Wifey's nail polish remover came in handy to get rid of the glue at last after 1 hour of hard work.
Read some where in the forum that those sticker shop guys can also do the same if asked for , so i will suggest, before you give it a try check with any of your local sticker guy if he can remove the same .
After getting those removed noticed that there was paint mismatch if we see the same from a particular angle
So got the car polished @ 3M and now its looks like this
