re: The Tata Nexon EV Max, launched at Rs. 17.74 lakh (pg 18)

Is there a link for the event? I do not see any announcement for tomorrow's launch anywhere.

Rightly pointed no media activity or any media invite , now the rumour has shifted to 28th -29th April..let’s hope for the best.

Tata should also increase the Nexon's DC charging capacity. The current DC charging capacity is 25kw max for the 30kwh battery pack which takes about 1 hour to charge from 0-80%.

Similar cars like MG & Kona have a battery pack of 40kwh and are able to charge it at 50kw DC charger.

If Tata doesn't upgrade this DC charging capacity, it is gonna be a bummer as DC charging time will be significantly more. This also means more waiting time in DC charging stations.

Even as of now, the current Nexon Ev's create significant waiting time in DC charging stations as they use the 50kw chargers with their max 25kw capacity.

On top of this, most Nexon owners want to charge to full 100% capacity despite other cars waiting, which takes about 1 and half hours in a 50kw charger.

It will only be frustrating for other EV owners if this capacity isn't upgraded as a 0-100% charge in a long range Nexon with 25kw max capacity would be about 1 hr 45 mins, which equates to nearly two hours waiting time for the next EV.

Adding to this, most of TATA power chargers are only 25kw chargers.

.
It's actually 21kw max not 25kw. The peak charging rate for Nexon is limited to 21kw.

Interesting observation. This is going to remain a perpetual problem, today its ZS owners feeling the pinch when slower Nexon is put for charge, tomorrow its another car with faster charging ability complaining about legacy ZS EVs taking space and time at chargers.

Long range version, fast charging is going to remain relative terms in EV space.

Yes, I understand that costs would further increase, but they can introduce it as an option at least.
I don't think it has anything to do with cost, instead it's avoiding complexity and weight gain unnecessarily. From an engineering standpoint it's pointless, because the question one needs to ask is 'why do IC engines need gears?'. IC engines have very limited power bandwidths when not within it's optimum rpm range, hence need a gearbox to compensate for this. Electric motors do not have such an issue.

To increase range you just need to regulate the power consumed by the motor from the battery. Hence when you use respective Eco modes in various EVs you get more range vis a vis using the Sport mode. In turn using the latter gives you instant torque and acceleration.

All the adjectives used start with the alphabet 'S'.

So, it is the TATA SLIQ as per the trademark reserved by them. I do hope it is either the production version of TATA EVision (Altroz based Sedan?) or an MPV rather than another SUV.

Just some wild thoughts from my side:

The words used here to describe the upcoming products start with the letter 's'. Considering that Tata had recently trademarked the names 'Curvv' and 'Sliq'. So, this could be the Tata Sliq which is expected to debut on the 29th of this month.

The handout's word selection is also interesting. The word 'space' might imply that this is yet another Tata SUV. 'Smart' might refer to the connected tech features. 'Spirit', design language oriented towards the younger generation.

I guess the unveil of Nexon Long Range EV isn't happening today either.

Looks like it.

Today's World earth day, a smart PR team would have realised the potential to make a statement all over the media, opportunity lost!

It does look like they have something up their sleeves, perhaps management waiting for an 'auspicious' date!
