Avoid the presets, play around with Strength, Luminosity, Black Point + White Point and smoothing.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Nice capture and focus. I think if use of graduated filter at the top portions of the image would have been more subtle, this would have added to a great capture. One can identify a clear line above which the image has darkened. This effect on the sky is welcome, but it spoils the overall bracketing of the building. But a great image nevertheless. Thanks for sharing.

Good attempt tupai. Specially the second one. Would be an interesting unprocessed image due to diversity of the contents. Off course the sky will be overwhelming (as always) and omnipresent entity.
Here are a couple of amateur attempts.

Thanks, regarding the post processing, I am a sucker for this surrealistic effect and love playing around with it. The unprocessed image was nice but it was too bland for my taste. Hope to learn and improve a lot more from guys like you as time goes.

P.S I loved the first pic.

Good catch. I hadn't noticed on first glance.

Lizard enjoying the rain

Today around noon I had gone to the park with my daughter (to take some shots of her), and was hurrying back because it had started drizzling a bit. Near our gate I saw this colourful lizard climbing up a broken wall. I slowly moved away a bit so that it doesn't get spooked (it seemed pretty jumpy), and then moved to the side from where I could (hopefully) get its profile. It paused for a moment at the top, that is when I got the shot.

D90, 70-300mm VR.

Good one nilanjan. Wanted to try out one of these 70-300 myself. Let me know your experience with this. I was thinking about the Sigma or Tamaron with a Macro mode.
I was seeing quite a few images processed using Photomatix. never used it myself. hence tried it yesterday. Instrument was a Sony Cybershot point & shoot. Frankly, don't really like the results, but it's a start .
