I too have observed this pattern in my full moon shots. Till date wasn't sure if it's a distortion or for real. Now it seems real with more people observing similar stuff.
My shots are using P&S superzoom Nikon P510
^^It's got to be some kind of optical phenomenon, the rays around the moon playing some trick. Any case it is amazing.
Few rain drops of a deluge, captured on Rose leaves...

Photographed this after hiking for 8 miles and climbing down a steep cliffline using ropes to reach this beach called Shi Shi Beach, located at the peninsula region of Washington State. Since theres no other direct access to the beach it's very secluded. A photographer's dream!

Sorry for my ignorance. What actually is a macro adapter ? Did you mean a "Diopter"/ close-up lens ?

TG for the nice words.
I am also getting an additional LED ring flash this weekend. Lights or lack of it has always been a sore point with my extension tube + 50mm combo. Hope the lights will make shooting macros more of a pleasure rather than a challenge.
BTW, Your pictures here and on the auto-image thread are simply amazing and a true source of inspiration indeed. Thanks for sharing them here.
