@samurai: Thank you for posting that pic again & actually that was the inspiration for this one. This was not an intentional shot & i sure do agree that early morning light will give you more details.

One more from the same location & time with the same mistake.

One more thing, never ignore the compositional aspect of the photograph, they make or break photos. A good composition with imperfect technicals (exposure/sharpness/tonals) can still fly, but bad compositions with perfect technicals don't. Riju posts such wonderful photos because he pays lots of attention to composition, it flies despite the PP troubles he has been having these days.

When you frame a shot, think whether it makes an impact, whether it wows you. If it doesn't impress you, don't click. Shoot using the composition rules, you can find it all over the web. Here is one: Rules of photo composition

Once you get very familiar with the composition rules, it is time to start breaking them. But don't break them before understanding them very well.

Great advises from experts on composition... Me just learner...

Here is one click of a terrain from moving car. Of course, its too amateur for expert comments, but, I would love to get comments from Samurai on composition... (pardon all other technical flaws, its just 1 Megapixel Nokia mobile phone and car was moving at 140 kmph when I shot this...)

Well, it is amateur enough for a non-expert like me too.

The real problem with this shot is that it was not composed at all. You probably pointed the mobile towards the window and pressed the button. The only notable attribute of this photo, it was shot at 140kmph.

Good photographs are composed, they do not happen accidently. You shouldn't click and then try to find the compositional merits of it. That would be no different than pouring little ink on the paper, fold it, open it, and then try to find the meaning of that mess.

If you wanted to compose a shot here, first you should stop the car and get out. Then see around for an interesting angle, first compose in the mind, visualise the scene framed on a wall. If it doesn't look impressive in your mind, get back in the car. But if it looks good, then pull out the camera and frame that shot. Now you can start worrying about the technical aspect of exposure, DOF, sharpness, lens, etc.

Snaps from Toronto

Please check my album online. Not very happy with the pictures though as they look a bit pale an colourless in the snowy conditions.

Thank You Samurai,
Yes you are right. I should have got out of the car, to get the 'best possible' angle for the shot, and used my SLR, I could have come up with a real good one.

Not sure what reptile this is, found it just outside my apartment. The crop has made it soft.
