Team-BHP - The Official non-auto Image thread

Was trying some lowlight shots with IS, notice the ISO and speed.

E3: ISO-1600, F/2.8, 1/20 sec with IS on.

E3: ISO-800, F/3.5, 1/5 sec with IS on.

Can anyone guess what flower is this?

Size of the ant(little house ant) should give you an idea of the size of the flower.

Clicked this by reversing my Canon 400D kit lens 18-55mm @ 35mm.

Camera: Canon 400D

Location: Hyderabad, My home.

At your location it should not be difficult.

Funny you mention this. Last week I was at my parents place and I could see the stars so clearly. So I shot some star shots.

This one is a 15 seconds exposure at F/2.8 and ISO100 on E-500.

Is that some constellation? Great bear or something...

Thats pretty neat.
Which lens buddy? Is this the original pic or croped one?

Thanks, width wise it is uncropped, I only cut off the bottom where there was nothing. The lens used was Zuiko digital 14-54mm at 14mm (28mm EFL).

Samurai, there are 2 types of star shots you can try
1. Normal ones where stars are not trails :
Set ISO to 800, open lens at 14mm wide open.
Focus to infinity(Manual focusing required)
Compose your shot
Shoot for 20 seconds.
See histogram, and increase exposure or decrease it, but never longer exposure than 25 seconds
If needed increase ISO
2. Trails.
Set ISO to 100
Set lens wide opn
Shoot for 25 minutes(Composition matters here too).
Long trails are aesthetic, but short ones are distracting.
A short exposure:168 seconds at ISO 400

A long exposure(453 seconds). I wanted close to 1500 seconds, but the moon would have played spoilsport. A new moon night is the best.

A friend of mine used to love taking pics of the night sky (especially the nights in winter,as the sky looks so much better). And guess what? He ended up taking a picture of a UFO,and its not been explained to this day. The object in the picture was nothing like a plane,nor was it any of the usual anomalies of nature/ camera malfunctions.

i think that's orion (on the upper side). i did a lot of star gazing in childhood. miss those days.

I want to share some pictures taken by an acquaintance back in Doha .. i totally appreciate the guys skills .. he is using a regular canon powershot .. hope you like the pics .. @tak and samurai, what cam are you using. because i was thinking of picking up the s5 IS and we cannot shoot for more than 15 seconds.
