No i didnt go there. This was shot from south lake union park and the fire works were from gas works park.

Here is the map. This was 6,7 blocks from the space needle.

In Photoshop also you can do HDR (High Dynamic Range AFAIK ;-) ) i.e. blending photographs of difference exposures of exact same frame so that you can get the high dynamics range of the lighting situation. CCD/CMOS have a dynamic range of only around 5 stops or so[correct me if I'm wrong here]. We used to use Graduated ND's during film days to not to get blown-out skies or too dark shadow area during those kind of situations but it has it's limitations(although I use GND's now also). But HDR technique gives one much more control.

Part 2 : Anyway Orton is this technique, Creative Nature Photography - Orton Imagery

And here is one Photograph on which I've applied Orton, not great composition but just to show the technique,Attachment 26759

Not sure of the dynamic range of CCD/CMOS.
Yeah HDR can be created on Photoshop too, but I never managed to get proper HDR image by PP. Photomatix is more effective and easy to work on atleast for me.
Thanks a ton for the info on Orton Imagery.
I have tried few here they are :D

Gkrishn, excellant exposure. Amazing

The boy was trying to explain something to the little girl. And suddenly I heard a loud cry..... The girl slapped the fellow and he ran off crying. The crow was a witness to the entire drama, but moved when I clicked.

I like the story line mail4ajo, but the Picasa PP doesnt go too well for me.

Awesome clicks dude. Really cool.

@mail4jo ; Nice capture, try PP with DPP or PS, blur effect not necessary to that extent.

@gkrishna, Awesome pictures. If you can share a linky for its original size pics, i guess a few of us won't mind using that on our desktop:)
