That's an enchanting shot, keep experimenting.


P&S have an edge because you can use it handheld and still get good DOF at higher speeds. But a dSLR shot beats the pulp out of P&S image quality and close-up. A tripod is a must to shoot macros using dSLR, and lots of Patience.

the last pic of the grain of rice has an amazing amount of detail. didnt even know a rice grain looked like that.

using a tripod to photograph a landscape is quite ok with my family now(after years of persistence). but, using a tripod to photograph rice.....they'll surely get my head checked:D

thanks deepak. they are my favourites too. both are taken from the same point. it is a narrow road with water on either side.one side looks north, and the other, south.

Jude why so much of skies in your shot ? IMO its a tad over shown.I would say pick a subject and keep the sky as the background .

riju- thats because the sky is the subject for me. the rest of it is the background.:D
its just that I cant bear to crop out a good looking cloud from a scene.
everyone tell me the same thing. there is too much sky. but....

Jude it isn't azheekal , but yes the 25kms radius guess was a little too much :D. This was shot from the bridge when you drive from pallithode to chavadi.

@gowda79-the 2nd pic is really nice. the flash worked out really well.
I like that camera a lot. I still use the DX6490 occasionally. its not slim and pocketable like most of the new cameras, but its does a great job, and has a nice 10X optical zoom.

Yep DX6490 is a nice camera.

But we sold it and we have now got Sony Alpha 100 - DSLR, will post some pictures taken with Sony which is a real deadly camera one can have it.

Does it come packed with Ammonium Nitrate or TNT ? Am curious now.

How did you guess that ??? Ofcourse it comes packed with TNT & RDX which is being used only by the suicide bombers in world to kill innocent people.

But in my camera it is the clarity & details of the picture which explodes.....

I have planned a train journey - on the Konkan Railway - and am very exited about it. Any tips on the photoops and the Do's and Dont's??

The downside is I couldn't get a 2nd class ticket - so stuck with an AC ticket (normally its the other way around!) I am therefore especially worried about the condensation issues (Bringing the camera out of an AC compartment to the humid coastal environs)

Any and all tips are welcome - including what to look out for and where teh scenic spots are!

On Konkan railway, esp in rainy season, there are numerous beautiful waterfalls which come in between 2 tunnels...so you need to be ready if you want to shoot those. Usually trains move slowly in the tunnels, so you should have some time to adjust and shoot.

Also do enjoy the scenic beauty through both eyes, not just through one eye :)
