Finally made a move to Gimp.... did some tone correction and local contrast enh. Mostly using the macros. Apart from little quirky user interface, guess i can live comfortably with this sw.
There are too many dust spot on the sensor. Lazy to fix them...

This guy managed to get inside the house some time in the night. Took this early this morning. Any one know the id of this guy??

ID : Yellow striped hunter : got it from wiki while searching for IDs on my dragonfly pics in post # 4127 and 4093.
Safe driving means keeping eye out for traffic at the back. This was clicked by a friend during the recent recce for the Desert Storm 09

Hey, thanks for that info.
Is that a Donkey or a Mule? I am impressed that even a donkey/mule cart driver knows the importance of RVM.:)

You got your donkeys and mules mixed up Samurai... 8-)
Donkey carts are all over rural Rajasthan. RVM was what caught Ranjan's eye in the first place.
I tried my hand at photography. Can anyone recommend a photo editing software?

Your shot is either Out Of focus, or the shutter speed was too low, hence camera shake.
As for photo editing, try GIMP

now you are comparing viewers. actually IE plays with the images before displaying, check if you have set any options like these in IE. for viewing and printing, better use standard viewing software. Attachment 64087 |
Excuse me for my ignorance, but I don't understand the screen shot. What you exactly mean by 'IE plays with the image'? You mean IE renders jpeg in some non-standard way?
Could you please be more specific on which option you were talking about? Is that smart image dithering? I was under the impression that smart image dithering does not affect the embedded colorspace interpretation of an image. To be sure, I changed this option in IE7 and viewed the Adobe RGB colorspace image, and there was no difference at all when this option is toggled.
I didn't see any other option which could possibly affect the color space interpretation, in the screen shot. So could you please explain more precisely? please:

Sorry, but no. From my experience I know the multimedia content in IE is different (more optimized I guess), but I don't know exactly how it does that.
All I was saying it comparing performance in IE is not an accurate way of looking at things, again, from my experience.
