A humble attempt using the SE k790i.

Here is my attempt at capturing a splashing droplet :
Manual mode;Aperture:f2.8, shutter speed:1/2000;flash at 2nd curtain.
Shot in RAW and edited with Picasa:
I didn't understand what it was till I read your post. Can't see the water or the drops against those colorful patterned backgrounds (bowls). Use a monotone background and crop it to direct attention to the droplet.

Thanks Mayavi, you are quite right. I too thought of it , but couldnot arrange a quick setup of dark bg + dark surface for water.
It was all an off the cuff idea and i immediately experimented . Next time around i will definetly come up with better result.
One more Click.. Dint use a Macro lens. Used Zoom browser to get close.
Canon Rebel XT. 18-55 mm AF lens.
Camera: Canon 400D
Lens: Sigma 70 -300mm DG Macro
I hope the above was not taken at a public place eh, else you can credit 200 buck to my account ;)

Mind-blowing.
Can you let us know some tech details on how you shot this. The water droplets look so clear!
Thanks guys,
I got the click with my point and shoot camera, a Sony DSC H50. No Telephoto Lens used, just the stock one.
Here are the details:
Aperture : f/2.7
ISO Rating : 400
Focal Length: 78.0 mm
Metering mode: Pattern
Here is another one,an HDR. This was clicked at the Famous Pier 39 in San Francisco, the place is crowded by fur seals very often. And for all those who think they are cute and cuddly...well they are aggressive, very noisy and very very smelly!
Regards,
TG.
