DPI actually depends on viewing distance. For putting an an album you need 300DPI atleast.
So with 300DPI you can make a print of 3872/300 and 2592/300 which approx means that the biggest print you can get is 8x12. However unless you want to go into the photograph and explore its past(you will have to add 2" to shorter side ;) ), you may be satisfied with a smaller print, in that case no problemo! |
Thanks tsk. Now I got it right. But is 500 dpi never possible? I remember reading some printer specs with 700, 1440 dpis and everything. What would be the dpi for a digital photo printer which is used in the color labs?

Generally it is better to make it B&W during post processing. Just make sure you are using higher F-stop or smaller apertures. Deep DOF is key for B&W and generally P&S gives much deeper DOF. |
Agreed about B&W is better during post-processing. But why is deep DOF necessary for B&W? Bokeh is equally beautiful in B&W.

B&W generally look better when there is lots of detail, especially if you can see the shadows and texture everywhere. B&W and Bokeh might work well with closeup portraits, but not in general. Your preference may vary, it is not a hard and fast rule.
A rather old one

The jpeg you made for uploading has high compression setting and thus low image quality it is seen around the red flowers (jpeg artifacts), always use the maximum (or one step below) quality setting (90-100%) when you save as jpeg for uploading.
Had clicked these a while back at the Monterey Bay Area, never posted them here though, so here they go. I was not carrying my zoom lens with me, so what you are seeing here is from the 14-24 f2.8.
Have a great weekend buddies,

For a moment I thought this was posted upside down. Yes, that what I thought before reading your words. :)
it looked like the building was seen through a convex mirror . that was what i thought at the first site before reading the title of the picture.

Rudra Sir,
Awesome shot. Everyday, I see that building from the one next to it sipping coffee. It was refreshing to see a different perspective. :)

I used the 'save for web' option from PS. I could notice the jpeg artifacts, but still learning to play with it gradually. This picture shows the petals slightly difigured even opened with photoshop from the original file that is above 3MB. Not getting an idea how the original in 100% mode shows this distorted file. It is a clean pic opened in irfanview though.:)
