Well, some awesome shots here. I have been away (for the festival and an extended vacation) and have not been able to post pictures due to a bad internet connection.

Being bitten by the strobist bug, I ended up buying a vivitar flash (without manual power control and zoom features :( ). So, here are the pictures that I tried with my niece (Saanvi) that I got over the past few days. Used a handkerchief to soften the light and to increase the apparent size of the light source, was not carrying the umbrella. C n C please.

HW the second pic in that set has turned out very nice

Soft light and the mood come through and for me the catch-light in the eye simply clinches the deal!

Was this the 50mm?

Also I would've loved to see a landscape version of that Yosemite picture. Do post it if you have taken one already.
Thanks man...I will post a landscape version soon...

TG, the last two shots, Falcon and Guy smoking are lovely shots. You are really good at taking candids.

s0uljah,

Thank you . Yep, it was the 50mm 1.8. I have been using it more than the 18-55 and love it for the sharpness. I find it perfect for my needs as of now as I have developed some interest in shooting portraits.

TG,
Thank you. And the breather shot is amazing! Wow. Will add it to my favorites on flickr.

@HellwratH: Nice picture there... the second one...!

@TG: Super shot...! I like it very much.

One critique: The outdoor scene is too much darkened - it doesn't look real while comparing with the highlights seen in the smoke. I initially thougth it may be darkened glass of the doors, but guessed its your PP by looking at the bottom right corner where the light penetrating between the door and floor is too dark.

s0uljah: What a colorful treat for the eyes!

Mi10: Good job!
