Na, not the lenses (unless you get some converters) but the flashes (esp old manual ones) and the softboxes etc will be awesome.

A P&S result. Taken a year ago.

His lights are all latest with the studio umbrella, reflector etc to mix and match. I will check if they can work without the commander (which is borrowed by his collegue for a month).:) Some family portraits soon !!!

I too have few Canon and Sigma EF ones which are to be used with my first DSLR. (Oldest being from 1990)

The last few pictures have been really nice. Sorry could not comment earlier. Was writing a travelogue on the trek to Skandagiri. Well, I know I am not worthy enough to post my views but, still, here is what I feel.

@ Klub class : The picture of the black keys could have been composed better IMO. The pic looks a little blurred towards the middle.

@ TG : The clouds on black and white really look out of this world.
Especially the 4th, 5th and 6th shots. The ripples on the ocean are to die for.

@ Clevermax : The Barcelona logo on the jacket looks really neat. It does not look straight out of the cam to be honest, that shot is incredibly well taken.

@ Praful :
The silhoutte is just so perfect.
I guess I need a few tips on the technique.

@ Shajufx :
Love it with the innocence and awe captured in one shot.

@ Nutty Nair :
Especially I like that Spider shot.


I don't intend to deviate from the ongoing theme but there are some shots I really liked from the trek.

Preetam, you just came in as a key-board player here and have become like a painter now. If you ask me my best choice, its 'people and pillars' and the 'twigs and the hilltops' undoubtedly. Both look like a professional painting.:thumbs up Now I have to think twice before I post something stupid..:)

The last shot from you is a bit overexposed IMO. A level correction may probably be perfectly fine.

Preetam, I am an amateur too :), so you have company. Last shot original is bit overexposed, could not find a satisfactory level playing around with the 'curve' option on PS. I thought that gives more importance to the face without much clutter in the background. Loved your painting work. We should meet up one day, having many interests in common. :thumbs up

Thanks, and you've to believe me on the no PP part. :) The only thing I've done on the RAW file is WB correction, and opened in PS. Then I re-sized it to a smaller size and posted.

Why I said it is because of the amazing sharpness in that image. In the last few pages that I've been following closely, that is one of the very neat images IMO. Just my 2 cents

Focal Length: 18 mm
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
ISO Speed: 400

Not much to the steps of the PP that went into it as I don't remember most of it. But I usually click in RAW and then just play around with the sliders till I get the desired effect. I just started with photoshop, so I don't know or follow any definite workflow if there is any! Same goes for the orginal, don't usually keep it if I like the processed version.

Thanks buddy, the credit goes to my lens and to me also (only for keeping the camera steady) :D It gives very sharp images at apertures around f/8. The sweet spot (from expert reviews) seems to be around 150mm f/8.
