Brother, please dont stop posting HDR's.
They are great, just go easy on the processing at times!

OT:
The point is, even though most HDR's look surreal, they look surreal only because, the situation actually looked surreal when we saw them with our own eyes. The camera obviously did not see it that way. Thus it is in our best interest, that we don't try to infuse a magical spirit into the photo which does not exist in reality.
That said, HDR's do lend an aura to the real shot, an aura which is solely at mercy of the magician creating the HDR! :thumbs up

Your pics have come a long way since you first started posting them. Your idea of converting the temple pic to HDR was good. Just that it was over-processed to most peoples tastes. Criticism only makes you better. So dont quit posting HDRs if they have been a morale-booster for you.

Tried dance floor photographs yesterday. Extreme low light + action. Phew!!! Any tips to handle such situations?

No offenses taken preetam, i have been a spectator of good and great images and trust me when i say, yours fall into both the categories i mean it. I have a very skewed perspective about photography, my aim is not to just to take and present spectacular images for the viewers but also to narrate a story with my images, by saying this i know have set my own bar extremely high. I know that i have to really work hard on my processing now, but when i have to make a choice between taking the actual pics and processing the pic i chose to learn photography first. Though i have seen and learned a lot from people and trust me criticism is the best mentor. I have not taken an offense here but just learned that we do not have a lot of spectators for HDRs here, and i have no intention to say i take great pics, but i know one day everyone including me will get there.

True, its a test at 400mm in extreme low light, so focus was hunting.

Wondering what lens you used for the same !! I think a 35mm 1.8 or 50mm 1.8 would give the best in such situation. Kit lenses are just useless for low light, moving situations.

Pawan, I already posted about the white background in the kingfisher shot, its spot metering playing the trick, making the lake look like a white wall. No PP here. Spotting many, may be its pure luck, nothing else. I have gone to the same lake atleast 5 times, couldn't find a single kingfisher.

Chevelle, It really took a couple of mins to make out the things from the first picture!

The second one looks good.

An HDR need not look surreal at all. This HDR , made from 5 exposures, looks closest to what i saw with my eyes at sunset.


And this one too, another merge of 3 exposures, again the goal being to deliver a realistic, closest to human eye shadow and highlight range.

Used the kit lens. I am yet to add any primes to my collection, which consits of only the modest 18-55IS and 55-250IS.

50 f1.8 could have let in lot more light.

However, once i started shooting, i realised another problem. I couldnt increase the aperture too much as i needed a decent space to be in focus as well. Hence, the prime would also be ineffective, right? Throwing eveything other than the subject out of focus (which could be less desirable in something like a dance performance?)?

A hotel in Marianplatz, Munich's center place.

I am sorry if it was not clear as to what it is. Its basically a street in San Francisco which has zig zag road going down surrounded by beautiful, lush green gardens and a neighborhood which is very expensive. There are around 4-5 parallel streets like this, only this one has this crooked style. And so its world famous. Its the most frequented place for visitors.

Anyways, thanks for your opinion. Though this photos are not to the high standards set by this thread, but still i thought i should share since it looks amazing.
