All macro shots whatever I have posted on this thread are taken with a dedicated 1:1 macro lens except the last shot through a 70-200 at its 200mm f/8 using its minimum distance of 1 meter to the subject. I find the results as close to a dedicated macro lens, but it will never give a 1:1 ratio. Bit of Googling will give you a detailed info on this.

An off-centre positioning would give it a classy look, just my feel.

This is how 'chicks' grow up :)

I tried hit and try for the focus, but needed some advice for focussing on the moon; since nothing shows on the viewfinder/screen, how do you guys focus? Same question arises for star trails.

Nothing is seen in viewfinder when you zoom in to the moon? I get a clear view of the moon even with my 70-210 @210 mm. If the moon is bright enough, it will allow you to take very steady shots of the moon even hand held. Focusing on the moon is infinity focus, and for me it was very easy thing to do. Make sure moon is in one of the focal points, I prefer to center the moon for easy focusing.

This thread's seeing a lot of activity these days. It's helping me learn a lot. Keep up the good work people.:thumbs up

I had a query : Can bokeh be achieved with a P&S? I tried it but didn't come out very well. Google didn't help much either.

It's raining awesome shots here. Kudos to all! :thumbs up

A classic case of "know your equipment and explore". And yes, bokeh can be achieved in P&S camera.

I would suggest you to 'Switch on the Macro mode' and click everything that interests you. Only thing that you should keep in mind is that 'You need to focus on the subject and blur the background.

And, I guarantee that you'll end up mastering the art of achieving bokeh using a P&S when you play around with your camera :D

Esteemer, here is a picture taken using a P&S camera.

great Macro , Actually Macro is much more easier in P&S rather then with DSLR with a normal non macro lens.
If you want to buy a proper 1:1 macro lens is much more costlier then P&S.

Some nice shots here.

Black Kite.

@ KC : Thanks a lot. I've been trying since days, but shortly after reading your reply I achieved my first Bokeh( and guess what, I didn't even change my technique. I did what I had been trying earlier which was almost the same as you mentioned, and it just happened :D)

My first bokeh shot is nothing great. But I'll try and take some better ones and post them here soon.

Shots taken at a zoo..

Nice shots harmon_bro.
