Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

IMO, the haze adds character to the shot taken at 200mm

OH PP Guru, please teach me some of your skills, you will have 2 disciples at your service . You are right at 200mm the sal lens is not as sharp as the beer can, This was shot at F32, even then the image is not as sharp as expected.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Thanks for the suggestions, comments and warnings
It need not go to digital art thread, because only the clouds are manipulated, rest of the image is 100% there, only color correction is done. I agree what Clever pointed out, if I knew how to do that flawless, none would even recognize the clouds to be from another image. Learning is a lot of fun, I must admit !

Back to natural captures.

This is a nice image. I liked it.

I was going by the www.photo.net definition of what is an unmanipulated image and what is a manipulated image.

Quoting from their site

Quote:
Your photos in our database here at photo.net are intended to help other readers learn how to become better photographers. It is helpful for them to know whether the photo is more or less as it came out of the camera ("unmanipulated") or whether the photo has been significantly altered ("manipulated"). In other words, to produce a image like yours, do they need to work on their camera technique or their Photoshop technique?

Unmanipulated image is
  • a single uninterrupted exposure
  • cropping to taste
  • common adjustments to the entire image, e.g., color temperature, curves, sharpening, desaturation to black and white
  • dust spots on sensor cloned out
And a manipulated image is
  • double-exposure or fragments from several exposures
  • geometric distortion, e.g., to correct perspective
  • adjustments to just a part of the image, e.g., dodging and burning
I personally consider manipulated images as digital art.

As you know, my DSLR battery is gone and I am not using the camera for weeks... it will continue like this for two more weeks until new battery comes from US. My hands itch to do some PP! Assuming you have several RAW files in your PC, what about a meet up in your house this weekend?

Do you accept only from local soil or entertain cross boarder RAW files too ? I have around 300 unedited RAW files, shall I ?

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

I am getting bored of the beach shots now.
Let me post an air show image taken today.
The Official non-auto Image thread-05.jpg
I have no idea what I did, this image became 53 kb (smaller than a windows icon) after editing, trying to find out what went wrong

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

@DCS-Customs,

I loved the macro shots of the flower and the leaf. For the rest, I felt that you should have resized the image as the composition was good but the resolution was not.

@pramod,

Were those lights from fishing boats on the horizon?

@shaju,

Lovely shot. With brilliant colours. Which lens was that?
