I am planning to buy an ND filter(s) so was doing my research, came across variable ND filters (fader), which allows you to increase or decrease the transmittance and go from 2 to 8 stops with just a turn of the ring.

Anyone here using such a variable ND filter? feedbacks appreciated.

Thanks for the advice sir. Now my first objective is to get the camera tested tomorrow.
Next is to acquire one tripod. Ive seen some trilods in the Whizz camera store. Will that fit with this camera? Or are the tripods going to be specific fits for specific company cameras?

Managing my expenses is the key here; since ive another expensive hobby i.e scale models.

Sir any recommendation of good tutorial books for learning basic things like aperture, shutter speed, iso and differences in film and digital shooting.

Also i see these days that the basic kit comes with 18-55mm lens. Now do i need that? Or is the one im having 35-70mm ok? Just for beginner skills.

You can use 2x CPL filters stacked to do the same, just the second filter needs to be reversed. Although every vari-ND will give a color cast.

Yeah i did go there and splurged on gears. Nothing too interesting but usual stuff s were there. I got a Canon macro 100mm f 2.8 for 29k (way cheaper) a nissin di622mkii a couple of memory cards uv filters and few ebay stuffs like flash diffusers. The highlight was all these cheap flashes called Sonia and pico which everyone was getting for 2.5k and studio kits. Was looking for some company.... But went all single

I am uploading the picture that i took, although i had to strip down to fit 1mb size limit still you can make out the blurriness and lack of brightness this after using 3200 as ISO and Shutter speed of 100.

And how would increasing exposure time help in shooting sports? Any decrease in shutter speed would lead to motion blur e.g with humans/ball/shuttle.

check white balance. your camera is probably set to auto. I assume the lighting here is fluorescent, change WB to that (or tungsten if that's the lighting source). Auto WB can't handle all lighting types and understanding white balance will dramatically improve your pictures.

I see a color temp setting in the NX2 data - is that default or is that a setting change you made?

I had ordered Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM Lens from Flipkart and was delivered couple of hours ago. I'm little concerned with the packaging. This box was not sealed.
Could someone clarify if this is how the canon lens are packaged.

No, it was not on Auto, i set it to Shutter priority program and played around with shutter speed till i got clear non-blurry shots. The shots looked dark hence than changed the ISO settings to increase the sensitivity.

Color temperature, i did not change that, that's by default recorded by camera i guess.

Light source was Tube Lights (Not sure if that's what you meant), How do i fiddle around with White Balance (Through software?)?

Easier solution will be to carry a grey card with you. And calibrate the camera by pointing to it.
I have heard of some people pasting the grey card on the inner side of the lens cap so that it is always available.

EDIT: Your lens is not very bright starting at f3.5 at 28mm. This pic is taken at 170mm if I am not wrong and hence f6. Under such less lights the ISO will be jacked up resulting in grainy images. You can use bright portrait prime lens.

TIP: In such conditions going for Black and White is more sensible. Somehow the grainy black and white is more acceptable to me than a grainy color picture.

I don't mean the exposure mode. At the back of the D90, to the left of the screen is a column of buttons. One of them is white balance (it says WB). You press that and use the rear and front command dials to change between WB types and the hue (warm, blue) within that. Tubelight is fluorescent (the tubelight icon). Change to that setting and see if it helps.

Usually there will be a hologram seal or something... It is not seen in this package. Some sellers open up the package to put a seal on the warranty card, when I bought my camera, they called me up from smartshoppers and asked me whether it is okay to open it up to seal the warranty card.
