Experts

I have suggested the following to a newbie. Let me know if its good enough to start with. Mind you, the budget is limited to ~50k as of now.
  1. Canon 550D
  2. 18-55mm (Kit lens)
  3. 55-250mm
  4. SanDisk 16 GB Class-10 memory card

Usually there will be a hologram seal or something... It is not seen in this package. Some sellers open up the package to put a seal on the warranty card, when I bought my camera, they called me up from smartshoppers and asked me whether it is okay to open it up to seal the warranty card.

There was no such seal on the warranty card. I called up Flipkart customer support just to casually inquire whether the package comes sealed. They confirmed it should and straightaway raised a case for replacement piece. Flipkart clap:.

I'm curious to know what would they do with this piece.

You were not so gullible. Maybe a gullible customer might get this. I would suggest you to note down the serial number of the lens and keep it with you. I might sound cynical & sceptical but who knows FlipKart puts the seal on this box and resends it to you..!

Anyone has an idea how much a year/2 year old 5DM2 would cost in the used market? Planning to jump into FF.

I am trying to click continuous photos using 1100D by setting the shutter speed to 1/2000 and enabled multiple shots, however there is a lag between each shots. When I tried to switch to sports mode it was very fast. After comparing the settings in two modes I couldn't find why it is slow in all other modes.

How can achieve a shutter speed 1/2000 or 1/4000 with the speed of sports mode ?

Can you tell what were the resolutions of jpegs that came out of sports mode and in the other mode?

Both the modes took the picture in L (normal quality) size around 2.2 MB

It's possible that in normal mode, the camera is metering the light and setting focus for each shot, while in sport it does it once in the beginning and then takes the burst with the same settings.
A look at the EXIF data will confirm this.

The lag is because of metering and AF...

Try this:
shutter speed to 1/2000
enabled multiple shots
ISO = 800...keep increasing till the quality does not degrade
AF= Try Manual...

Or a translucent mirror camera, in which there is continuous AF during burst shooting. I get 7 FPS from my lower end SLT..

Next is to acquire one tripod. Ive seen some trilods in the Whizz camera store. Will that fit with this camera? Or are the tripods going to be specific fits for specific company cameras?

Managing my expenses is the key here; since ive another expensive hobby i.e scale models.

Sir any recommendation of good tutorial books for learning basic things like aperture, shutter speed, iso and differences in film and digital shooting.

Also i see these days that the basic kit comes with 18-55mm lens. Now do i need that? Or is the one im having 35-70mm ok? Just for beginner skills.

First off, I am no sir, I am just another beginner to photography.

Do not spend a penny (or rupee) more on the camera till you have tested it and it's working.

Next, use the camera with all your existing accessories (the lens(es) which came with it and the flash) and learn how it works. Tripods or other lenses can be bought any time once you know how to use them.

Always remember: it's not the equipment but the photographer who makes the perfect shot.

As for learning the basics of aperture, shutter speed etc. any websites on photography can help you understand the same. The theory of these topics can be summarized in a page in about ten minutes, however it's the application of these basics which makes a difference. So my advice is load your camera with film and go shooting (just make sure it's working).

I also suggest for any further discussions on this, please start a new thread or send PMs to some of the knowledgeable members here so that these discussions don't clutter up the DSLR thread.

Even after changing the settings I couldn't catch up to the speed of the Sports mode.

I changed the settings to Manual mode (F3.5, 1/4000), ISO 800/1600/3200, Center weighted metering, Manual Focus. I have attached the EXIF details of both the modes. One thing I see is the Pattern metering in Sports mode, is it because of this ?
