If you need to order from Delhi some of that probably gets wiped out by P&H and possible custom duties, but still the difference can be huge;

Thats not really true these days. You can get things for really good prices. The only problem here is availability (for example I have not been able to source Panasonic m4/3 lenses here or some accessories for Olympus OM-D I have).

To give you an example, the Olympus 45mm 1.8 is available for $399 in US (plus taxes maybe? Thats the price on B&H) but you can buy it for Rs. 20k from jjmehta or even Rs. 18k from some shops. I bought my OM-D for 70k with the 12-50 kit and it costs the same in US! Its possible to buy this camera even cheaper here, I've seen prices like Rs. 66k (for the 12-50 kit).

I keep getting caught in this trap - I know nothing about Olympus. When I talk of equipment, I am chiefly talking about Nikon and to a lesser extent Canon.

Look at this link and the list price:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...amera_Kit.html

if you ignore the Black Friday retail discount, the price for a Nikon D7000 kit is $1,497

Now, look at this:
http://www.flipkart.com/nikon-d7000-...5-45526323f314

Retail price in for the same kit in India is Rs. 77,550 i.e. $1,396.

This is what I meant when I said prices aren't that different anymore. Now why should we ignore the discount? Because 1) it's for a short period 2) each market has its unique incentives - in India you get a 2-year standard warranty, in the U.S. it's one year, in India most online retailers are giving you 3-6 month free emi deals, I don't know about the U.S.

That's not to say if you happen to be in the U.S. when one of these promotions is on, you shouldn't buy it. But it definitely beats the grey market.

Yes, I sold the kit lens and bought the 18-105mm. If your looking for telephoto then why not the 18-200mm VR from Nikkor?

Is there a huge price difference? Standard, Prime and Medium tele-photo I'd like to stick to Nikkor lens

How is this deal guys?

http://www.ebay.in/itm/Canon-EOS-600...item3a7b50ea29

Any place I can get it (600D body or better with a good kit lens) for a better price (my budget is around 50-55k). I found some retail dealer selling this kit for around 61K and the Canon store in Infinity Mall asking ~55k.

I am looking to buy it by tomorrow.

P.S: I am looking for Canon's only at this point (just to avoid Nikon-Canon debates :D )

Check out this killer deal http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-DX-Forma...99HAS6CRZD4BHH

Or

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nikon-D7000-...30834236136%26

But for both the deals you gets the items shipped to someone in US who is willing to carry it back to India with them. If you try to ship it the deals do not remain that sweeter anymore.

Another thing is you should only buy if you have a very high risk appetite and willing to buy in the grey market without warranty.

All the best.

Is Nikon D5200 available now in the stores for purchase?

This is a great deal too, but is tradus a reliable site to order high value items like these? how is their refund policy and procedures any idea?

Friends, how much is the 5D mk2 going for these days? with/without bill, any idea?

What happens if I put in a card that is rated faster than the speed of a recommended card ?

C'mon Condor. That's like saying what if you put a tyre rated for 250kmph on your Sumo. What do you think will happen?

Samu san, my camera is now an old man. The list of recommended / supported cards is quite different from ones available today.

And this is electronic stuff, and not the mechanical stuff like tyres. So just wanted to be sure, esp after some comments I read about compatibility concerns.

But, Thanks :)

As long as electronic interface is same, it will work. What is the recommended card for your camera, which is your camera?

Nikon D70s
List of approved CF Cards is here:
http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answ...tail/a_id/9601

None is higher than 4GB. The highest rated card there is 4GB 80x, and the closest I see are 133x, and 200x.

Logically, a higher speed card can easily take the slower writing speed. The reverse would have been a problem. But wanted to confirm before I order the stuff.
