Thanks for the link. These days I've been watching Ted Forbes' video podcasts that are really interesting. He talks about lot of things about the art of photography, famous images/photographers etc. I've to admit that I never had any artistic inclination and could hardly appreciate when people explain images so graphically but at least I'm trying to develop a taste for it now. Maybe that is also a prerequisite for making good photographs :)

Hi Joslicx,

One of the ways to get better photos in such a lighting situation is to use the HDR (High Dynamic range) function in some DSLRs (the D5100 also has it). In this function basically the same shot is exposed twice, once with High exposure setting (to capture the dark areas well and once with lower exposure (to capture the brighter areas). After this, both the shots are compiled in camera into one shot to retain the details of both the dark areas and the bright areas. However, the catch is that there are two shutter releases which happen and there would be a gap of around 200ms between the two and any movement in the subjects will create a blurred/ multi image effect (in the second image you can see what I mean!)

The grey market is really not worth the risk. And there is no longer a huge differential in price. Indian DSLR and kit retail prices are very close to U.S. retail rates - buying grey or from abroad doesn't make sense anymore.

looking for a dSLR bag to hold the cam with kit lens and prime and smaller accessories like memory and charger.
also need it to be future proof as i may get a telephoto lens later.

did find the Lowepro nova 180 AW,a good choice!(at 2.9k)
any better choices below 3.5k range that suits my needs.
