Actually if Jayesh charges 2% extra over MRP, it will be a crime, however, if after charging 2% extra, the resultant price is still below MRP, he is in the clear.
Many dealers agree to sell you for more discount if you pay cash(since they don't have to pay anything to credit card company, hence transfer that benefit to you).

Tanveer, even after charging 2% extra as CC charges, I think his quote will remain most competitive amongst the competitive markets [RK Naresh, Smartshoppers.in, Vinod types]. Anyway, his prices are 'way' below MRP, atleast when EOS cameras are concerned.

Btw, have this info for you. Jayesh sent me a msg stating 26K+ with warranty & package for Fuji FinePix HS10.
Fuji India emailed me the MRP as 33,000/- with an introductory price of Rs.29,999/-, when I asked them in 2nd week of March, for the HS10. This guy even beats their introductory price.. Amazing.

No idea Mohan. It could be [for ex:] 21300 or 21500 or even 21800. Have to find out when we reach there.. I'm going to meet him with no expectations, but I'd faint if he'd discount the + from his price, for all of us [buying camera bodies+kit lens].

Edit:

Thanks for the update ajay. Jayesh had quoted me 12k+ last week. Let me wait for the new price. I am in no hurry. Plus I have not yet made up my mind yet.

Ditto, Jaguar!! Canon has just revised it's official price, a reduction of well over 2K, so I'd wait to see Jayesh's price reflect the same. I haven't made up my mind yet on this one, but if I DO decide to buy, it won't be before June '10.

A lot of reviews claim the 55-250 IS to be real good considering it's price, but the same folks also seem to recommend to save up and go for the 70-300 IS USM lens from Canon..

TSK couldn't have been more right in stating the dSLR thingy to be a confusing world..

If you see the Canon website, Foto Circle is a gold partner for digital cameras. Not of DSLRs. Does that make a difference?

Good query, sbraj. I missed noticing there was an option for DSLR camera.. Hmmm, I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but surely have a comfort feeling that he sells with B&W.

Anyway, I'll phone Canon India anyway to see if not being a DSLR preferred partner is a big deal or not. I think I know what they're going to say, though..

Tanveer is absolutely apt in saying that its all very confusing specially for a novice like me who is looking to buy an entry lever DSLR.
Here are the prices here in london with B&W from 1 store(they migh differ a bit), so please advise what shall i be buying out of these.

Dont advise anything more expensive than this please.

All prices are in GBP.
  • EOS 1000D(Body Only) : 305
  • EOS 1000D(18-55) : 375
  • EOS 100D(18-55 + 75-300) : 480
  • EOS 450D : 498
  • EOS 500D(18-55) : 620
  • Nikon D3000(18-55) : 350

Sorry for 'noob' question. Does Jayesh deal with Pentax? Can he give one for the same kind of competitive price? Thanks

Ok taking the focus away from Jayesh and his customers

I have a small question , If I crop as small area like a bird out of a total scene shot in low light at 300 mm I see small patches of Purple is this what people call Chromatic Aberration or I am seeing a simple case of pixellation ?

What is the best technique to fix CA in GIMP or PS ? If anyone knows then post the workflow here. Please do not post a oneliner that there are lots of videos on youtube yes I know but then there are lots of reviews of all sorts of DSLRs and lenses on net and still we disucss here.

In the above list 500D is the best all rounder but since you are in UK
Look for Pentax Kx with dual lens kit it is the best in entry level and with dual kit lenses 18-55 and 55-300 fits in your budget as well.

Do you intend to carry only DSLR with you or do you have a dedicated Camcorder already in that case you can do away with 500D and go for 450D.
I would advice against 1000D if you have budget becuase you will feel need to upgrade the body very soon.

Hey Guys:

I have a question for all Canon users/lovers. We always hear experts mentioning that given the budget one should spend on an expensive len than an expensive camera body. Are there limitations to this?

For example:
1. How does a Canon 1000D handle with 100-400 L lens in terms of weight distribution? or the stress on the mount on account of weight of the lens

2. Is there any difference in form factor/ergonomics between Canon 1000D-right upto Canon 550D after which ofcourse the body becomes perceptively larger.

Why the stupid questions? Well, my wife decided enough is enough since I do not part with my Nikon D90, she wants to go the Canon way and show who is best-both (gear) constructors and (talent) individual championship.

That message wasn't for you, Navin. It was for the other folks who'd committed to picking up stuff this weekend @ Bangalore.

EOS 1000D: 21K+
EF-S55-250 IS lens: 12K
Thanks a lot but is not the kit lens for the 1000D a non IS lens. We dont want that lens. We want the 18-55 IS instead. So can you ask him what the adition cost of the 18-55 IS instead of the kit lens will be. If he cant do that then maybe we'd have to get the 450 with kit lens (the kit lens for the 450D is the 18-55 IS) and the 55-250.

The 1000D combo mentioned above is available in Germany for Euro 500 which is cheaper but the 2 lenses are non IS and not that great. They were not offering the 1000D with the 18-55IS lens.
